The much awaited, Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto boxing match is finally here. On Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, will Manny Pacquiao make history and win his 7th world title in 7 different weight classes or will Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico be too big and strong for the smaller Filipino fighter? That will be answered tonight, live from MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, on HBO pay per view! at 6pm PT/9pm ET.
HBO 24/7 followed both fighters, covering their training camps leading up to the fight. Both fighters are determined to win for their Countries and for their legacies in boxing. The most logical match up for tonight’s winner would be a showdown with the undefeated, Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr but a sour relationship between Bob Arum and Mayweather Jr could make negotiations difficult. I’m a Filipino (a Manny Pacquiao and a boxing fan) and favored Cotto’s chance to win this fight (60% over Pacquiao’s 40%). Actually made it 70% when I heard that Pacquiao will have a post-fight concert, I thought, “what was this guy thinking?”. A concert after a fight?
Then he wins, wow, he’s one hell of a motherfucker. I always believed Mayweather will win if he fights Pacquiao, not anymore. Makes me prouder to be a Filipino.
