If Manny Pacquiao tests positive for Steroids it would be a huge blow to boxing

In recent news, Manny Pacquiao has refused to take an Olympic style drug test, the testing would come randomly during training camp.  The same type of test Olympic medal winners Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps had to go through in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Why would a man who has all the pressure in the world, who gets beat up in the ring and faces far worse circumstances in real life with kidnapping and death threats in his hometown of General Santos, Philippines be afraid to take a simple blood test before his biggest fight yet against Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

If Pacman is on the juice, it would be one of the biggest blows to boxing ever!  Pacman is probably the biggest boxing star the casual fans have embraced, he has brought back much needed attention to the sport in America because of his high action crowd pleasing style.

The Steroid Era is what hurt Baseball, and put a question mark over the heads of many of the leading home run hitters like Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds.

I am not here to claim that he is on steroids or taking some type of illegal substance, maybe Manny has a phobia of needles,  Kung Fu action star Jackie Chan who suffered many life threatening injuries has one fear and that is needles.

Maybe Pacman shares the same phobia of needles that Jackie Chan has, who knows for sure.  The refusal by Pacquiao to take a blood test a couple weeks prior to his March 13, showdown seems a little peculiar.  Especially, when Floyd Mayweather Jr. has agreed to abide by the same exact Olympic drug testing.

If Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao having nothing to hide just take the pre fight blood test to prove to people and the fans that you are not on illegal substances, if you don’t you will always have that question mark over your recent victories of David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.

Get your story straight Mr. so called writer…

Pacquaio agreed to take blood test before Press conference and 5 minutes after the fight.

Blame Gayweather for being a STUPID COWARD!!! It’s doomed from the start…he wants to avoid Pacman coz he knows Pac is gonna beat the SHIT OUT OF HIM!

Just sign the stupid contract Gayweather and stop looking for excuses! Fight like a true fighter

I love all the Pinoys defending Pac no matter what. He’s obviously on something he’s publicly claiming he’s talking to God. In all of his previous “clean” fights, he’s been doing steroids in the islands for a months, then to LA for a months to slowly strain it out just in time for the fight and urine tests. I’m sure he’ll make a great congressman.

If Mayweather doesn’t believe in blood test after 5 minutes of the fight then perhaps Mayweather is planning to give up $600k (same he was willing to cheat JMM) to inject Pac with something to weaken him before the fight.

obviously your a “larry merchant” type of fan, and don’t know the boxing world……you really think mayweather is gonna really attack pac..??? He is gonna outsmart pac and freddie cause mayweather has a trainers mind in a boxers body. Roach is 0-2 against mayweather…..and no way u come from 102 to 147 and maintain speed and power, look at roy jones…marquez beat him twice…seems like pac only fights ppl who have been mental ring problems….de la hoya was drained, hatton was overrated, cotto still shell shocked from margarito.

i was listening when he called a several radio for boxing…mayweather camp gesturing to accept the fight March 13..now the contract is almost finish once again demanding more testing on theyre own terms…check this link:http://www.boxinginsider.com/headlines/why-pacquiao-has-gained-the-mental-edge-on-floyd/

are you serious? can everyone not see his body is very unique. There was only one man in history that had a body like that…maybe even a little more defined, that man was Bruce Lee. You can tell when a body is juiced up on roids, more so gaining mass and size. Pacman is all muscle and whatever water weight he carries. This really shouldn’t even be an issue. This Schaefer guy is just protecting his fighter by making ridiculous stipulations (wanting a surprise blood test anywhere from 2 days prior to the fight).

Floyd has no way out…except steriods aleegation
which he knew pacman will pass..the testing should be done by boxing commission rules not Mayweather dodging excuses…ITS A BIGGEST INSULT TO THE BOXING IF MAYWEATHER SMALL BRAIN DICTATES THE TESTING….PACMAN DID NOT REFUSETHE TEST..is the way Mayweather camp wants it donethey dont make the rules….unless Floyd way too scared to fight Pacman….every little thing will become a big issue when fighter too scare to fight…

This is another one of Floyd’s circus show that wont fly with Team Pacquiao. I have to say that I’m glad it went this way coz people will really see who put this bout in shame. Manny can find another blockbuster match somewhere else and Mayweather can screww himself.

Question: what difference does it make if pacman will take the test RIGHT AFTER the game? “RIGHT AFTER” being the operative words.. drugs like those dont leave your system over night. mayweather’s camp is being illogical and senseless. what mayweather’s doing is a CLASSIC PSYCH-OUT.. duh?! people will question pacman now that they have doubts in their minds. mayweather is trying to win the people by actually pressuring pacman.

manny and his camp should sue mayweather by falsely accusing him of taking the drugs. PEOPLE, manny has NEVER failed any drug test all through out his career as a boxer!

nevada commission will get a big slap if they allow mayweather to dictate how boxers should take the test. big slap if they allow USADA to test it instead of them. big slap if they let mayweather run them over. they should just ban mayweather to play there all together! hahahahah

Was Kobe and lebron tested for olympic style drug testing …yes but did spain or argentina make fals claims about them…NO

all olympians are tested but it’s not because other teams are crying.

that’s what’s annoying about this, floyd wants a way out. so he can paint pac as the bad guy. using every advantage he can find but in the end destiny will catch up with him.
ANd his destiny is getting knocked the fuck out.

by floyd not accepting testing after this fight, it only proves he’s playing a game and i bet pac is pissed off because if it wasn’t for floyds daddy crying none of this would be a issue.

boxing can not change it’s rules for 1 cry baby and uneducated on hgh. yes manny gets hit with a stick which explains why he can take a punch. not hgh , it dont give you a better chin. And one thing it for sure wont give floyd is a heart

The reports I read (on fightnews, secondsout, etc) stated that Manny was unwilling to take a blood test within 30 days prior to the fight. They wouldn’t try to test the day before because it makes little sense.

For those who don’t understand steroid use in sport, the idea is to use it early on in training, reap the benefits during training of the extra energy/power/whatever (depending on which steroid we’re talking about), and have the steroids out of their system by fight time (with benefits still intact from training).
So refusing a drug test 30 days prior looks very suspicious to me. It’s 30 days ahead of the fight, so it’s not like he’s gonna be short of blood or something crazy like that.

In all honesty, I think this kind of testing should occur for all championship matches and no fighter should be able to refuse it. Not Pacquiao, not Mayweather, not anyone. If they’re clean, they have nothing to hide.

I like Pacquiao, and I’m hoping this is all just hype. But regardless, there is no excuse to turn this down. Afterall, Mayweather has agreed to be tested, so why can’t Manny do the same?

I guess the pactards are dumber than i think. How can a man turn down $40 million simply because he dosent want a blood tests a few weeks before a fight? Because he is cycling off drugs and dosent want to be caught. He has 8 ounce gloves and his other requests as a $10 million fine if Floyd dosent make weight and Floyd will also have the SAME tests done.

Pactards keep saying how good the Nevada tests are, SHANE MOSLEY was never caught and he was later implicated with the Balco scandal. Why? Because no random tests or blood tests are given.
Also HGH dosent get traced in the urine. With the exception of one test that must be done Random.

With so many boxers already accusing pacroid as Cintron, mayweather, Malignaggi etc. why not prove your innocent?

F Off to Pactards, he is proven to be a hoax and juiced up pinoy monkey

You’re the one who didn’t read the damned reports. Pacquiao is willing to take the test up to five days before the fight or right after the fight, but not within two days before the fight. He certainly has no problem taking the test 30 days before the fight.

There should be no reason to refuse a drug test in professional sports. Too much cheating. How many times have we heard someone say “Absolutely not, I have never used any type of Steriond!!!” Only to find out they have. Then the excuse of well I didn’t know this was illegal or my trainers prepare all my training shakes. If Pacman is on some type of steriods it would explain alot. I don’t think he is taken anything. I just think he is one of the freakish guys that come along once or twice in a lifetime that is incredidable like Mike Tyson. However if he does take the test and is not explosive as he has been in previous fight and lose, many will still ask the question: was Pacman taking steriods for ODLH, Hatton and Cotto.

if pac is using HGH there is a window of btw 24 to 48 hours after use for it to show up in blood tests (urine tests are useless). The only way to catch him is with the test being random ie he doesnt know exactly when he will be tested otherwise testing is useless. By leaving such a large window by which tests can take place (the time between the press conference in Jan and when the fight takes place in march)there is a enough to juice up and rid of the evidence just in time for the fight. Besides the blood needed is no more than a teaspoon so what is manny scared of? if the test are not random then they might as well be scrapped completely

Manny has tattoos don’t he, to get tattoos you need to be stuck with a needle, Pacquiao must be hiding something, you can take it 30 days before the fight and after the fight but can’t do the test a couple of days before the fight, what type of sh– is that? Mayweather agreed to your stipulations agreeing to pay 10 million dollars for each pound over weight so why can’t you comply with a little blood test? Yall need to stop hating on Money Mayweather, if Pacquiao wants to fight he’ll take the test, nuff said!!

mayweather gone make weight he might just be a pound over just to say he got money to blow but if dat boy dont wont to take the blood test it does bring steroids into question steroids are like cocaine they dont stay in ya system that long so i think they should have to give a sample at least every two weeks. it aint a blood donation its just a little bit of blood its not gonna make either one of them any weaker. if he beat mayweather and then test positive its still a loss on mayweather record thats why mayweather wanna make sure if he do lose its fair.he just gone when by decision anyway he aint gone let pac knock him down he gone win the numbers game

Take the damn test Manny, what do you have to hide? Oh wait since I’m an athlete I know exactly what you have to hide. My brother used steroids before his NFL pro day work he told me that he will start to ween off of it 30 days prior to the combine so he does not get caught. So that explains why Manny won’t test 30 days prior to the fight. This guys is a fraud. We all know urinalysis don’t work. Just ask Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, and A Rod who never failed a urinalysis. Even Shane Mosely needed the balco fallout to get caught. This dude is a fraud and now we all know it. Everyone together now. Take the test!!! Take the test!!! Take the test!!!

yeah, you dont go from getting your ass boxed off and almost knocked out by marquez, and also not being able to finish marquez in two fights, to being a friggin superhero. Thats is proof enough. If it were steroids, he would be fine with the testing, but its designer stuff that the random tests will pull a positive. Not only is pac a cherrypicker like floyd, he one-ups him by juicing. Way to go munson.

PACMAN AND HIS ENTIRE CAMP IS AFRAID OF MAYWEATHER. Proof is in the pudding! Everyone says that Mayweather is being too difficult and looking for excuses. Hmmm. Mayweather wanted the fight at 154lb but since Pacman wanted 147, he agreed. Mayweather wanted 10oz gloves but since Pacman wanted 8oz, he agreed. Mayweather also agreed to the $10 million overweight penalty. That’s 3 of Pacman demands that he has agreed on. Shouldn’t Pacman agree to this 1. That’s why they call it NEGOTIATING. Mayweather’s camp is trying harder to make this fight than the Pacman camp. I understand sticking by your fighter but when you give a bias opinion, it’s garbage and no one listens. Also, testing after the fight is good but NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Lets say they fight and Pacman wins but tests positive AFTER THE FIGHT. The damage is already done and Mayweather may not ever be the same fighter again. Ask Miguel Cotto if finding out after the fight is enough. Cotto was an excellent fighter, was cheated by Margarito and now, sad to say, he has never been the same! Plan and simple Mayweather has agreed to 3 on Pacman’s demands. I’m looking for a fair Pacman fan to agree that he should give in on this 1 demand. Also, rather than agreeing to this 1 demand and fighting, he’d rather go to court. HMMM! You Pacman fans are going to tell me that this doesn’t seem suspicious? He’s either juicing up, scared as hell or both PERIOD.

Suspend Pacquiao and undergo random test until he is clear. If proven he is clean have him use this in court in suing the Mayweathers and Golden Boy and have them pay the $40M as damaged on top of the penalty they will get in court. If Pacquiao is guilty in using steroid have him pay the $40M and ban him and Roach for ruining boxing

Having watched many, many fighters move up through fighting divisions to capture titles in multiple divisions, what Mr. Pacquiao has done is so remarkable that it is unbelievable.

And usually when something is unbelievable there is a reason why it is so.

Boxers moving up through weight classes and losing something along the way is normal. If a naturally smaller boxer’s dominance is greater with bigger men and the dominance was not there at the lower weights it shows that either the individual has somehow become superhuman or there is something else involved. Pacquiao was not a dominant boxer at the lesser weight classes below lightweight. The truth is that he was beat and also awarded wins that he actually lost.

One of the most dominant fighters at lightweight, if not the greatest, was Roberto Duran but as he got bigger and challenged in heavier weight classes his dominance was not there. Pacquiao has pulled off the opposite.

How is that possible? It is not.

When moving up in weight, a boxer may add some strength but losses speed. The faster they move up in weight the greater loss of reflexes. Here we have a case of a boxer gaining some 30 pounds over two years (perhaps 25% weight gain) and dominating natural bigger champions.

Sorry, it does not compute. There appears to be flyweight in the ointment.
