I’ve had my suspicions of Manny Pacquiao and his team before, but hearing the news of him not willing to take the same drug tests that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is willing to take answered everything.
Why would a man who claimed to never use Steroids and boxes for a living be afraid to get a little bit of blood taken? It makes no sense, especially when Pacquiao has no problem getting Tattoos with a painful needle.

The answer is…. because they may have something to hide. If they are backing down from the biggest fight in the history of boxing over a simple randomized blood test and using the excuse that Pacquiao will be weak is very fishy. It seems more like he is scared to fight Mayweather Jr. and looking for a way out.
What more does Pacquiao want? Mayweather already accepted a 50-50 split of revenue even though Mayweather Jr. is clearly the bigger draw, Mayweather accepted the $10 million dollar fine for every pound Mayweather goes over the 147 pound limit at the weigh ins and Mayweather agreed to use the 8 ounce punchers gloves that Pacquiao favors.
If Manny was really clean like he claims, then take the test, he gets hit in the face for a living for crying out loud more fighters have died from brain injuries than having a small amount of blood taken out of their arm.

The only objective criteria to determine whether Manny is taking illegal substances is a failed test. Manny has not failed a test. Therefore, it cannot be concluded that he is taking illegal or performance enhancing drugs. Innocent until proven guilty. Any conclusions without a test is just pure conjecture.

Just to be clear, I’m not an obsessed pacquiao fan. First fight with marquez I think he lost. Delahoya wasn’t himself, hatton had the ideal style to be knocked out, the only fight lately that i’ve been impressed with is the Cotto fight. But taking steroids? Come on, are you a parrot? All Boxing fans should realize that there is an entity called “Nevada Boxing Athletic Commission” which governs the boxing fights in Las Vegas for decades and for some stupid and selfish reason, Mayweather’s camp wanted Pacquiao to undergo a test outside this governing body. I say, Pacquiao should just drop Mayweather and look for another opponent. Mayweather’s group is creating controversy because they wanted to play mind games with people by perverting Pacquiao’s honest to goodness climb to fame. That accusation is a lame cowardly excuses for not skipping the fight.
Mayweather always challenge Pacquiao to step up the plate but here he is, failing to step up the plate, trying to create a controversy and a new commission to govern boxing.
I have high regards for him before but this time, its unacceptable. He looks like a little cry baby who does not really know what he wants.

Also, Manny never claimed to be scared of a needle. I don’t know where people are getting that info. There’s more to getting the shot than a needle piercing your flesh before a fight. Mental or physical after-effects, superstitions, etc.

Honestly, if Pacquiao walks away from this fight because of drug testing, then in my opinion he’s guilty. Contrary to popular opinion, Pacman needs Floyd just as much as Floyd needs Pacman. This fight is about LEGACY, the winner would be crowned the UNDISPUTED POUND FOR POUND KING and possibly one of the greatest fighters of our era. Boxing experts agree, take the test and knock the bastard out…that’s how you shut Floyd up. Not walking away from this fight. Lastly, I suspected Pacman of doping or taking something after I watched the D. Hoya fight. When I watched the Cotto fight that suspicion increased tremendously.

It’s fine if someone has an opinion. But when that opinion is mis-placed or has no basis, then believe someone will step in to correct it. That’s what the comments section is for isn’t it? For comments?
What’s the point of fighting a fight if you’re not allowed to train or fight at your maximum ability? That’s why he doesn’t want to take the tests. Besides, he’s got his principles. He’s not gonna sell out because some dumb person is making an ignorant comment with no proof.
There is no basis for such an outrageous request, and unlike Floyd’s previous opponents, Pac has the upper hand here. I agree, that this payday is too big to lose over a blood test.
At this point it’s about who’s gonna crack first. This is a mental game they are playing. Pac is holding all the cards, this is just a ply on Floyd’s part to gain some kind of control and make pac bend to him. It aint gonna work.
Pac is more then willing to prove that he is clean, as long as he doesn’t have to give blood 30 days within fight time. The ball is now in Floyd’s court to comply. If all Floyd is interested in is fairness, then this should suffice.

Pac was fighting at 106lbs at the age of 16, he now fights at 147. Floyd, at age 16, was fighting at… wait for it: 106lbs! Though Floyd went pro at a later age, at 16 he was an amateur champion at 106. So you must think that Money May is on the ‘roids too right? Right???

I am a big Pacquio fan, who has attended every single fight he has had at the MGM Grand(Floyd Mayweather too). It’s great when the Phillipino fans come to town sometimes two weeks in advance and turn the town upside down, but with that said…
Every time someone is accused of steroids in the past 15 years it has started out this way(loud mouth who has no credibility with the PUBLIC). And every time it’s been later found out through testing, or grand jury that the maligned accusers were 100% accurate.
The journalist who usually defend the accused on ESPN, Blogs, etc, usually know better, and have much more concrete things to go on, but LIE to you.
I don’t know or care if he is on steroids. But I want let race, or who I’m a fan of make me oblivious to the signs. Physically he has all the signs. Talk to someone who does or has done steroids. Don’t just form an opinion because of how you feel about the particular athlete.
So me?….. I will just wait and see, but I would never be so adamant about any athlete not being on drugs. And as far as him passing all his test… they are urine tests. So, they cant be testing for very much. And the steroids of choice these days need a blood test given within a very short time period anyway.
I like Pacquio because he is a great boxer, not because I think he is a great person, or because of HBO 24/7, or because he talks about god …. I know better. Fans need to stop looking for some psuedo intimate relationship with an athlete. Just enjoy the physical accomplishments and/or team play.
Being a sports photographer has let me see how totally different star athletes are when a camera is not on them. Almost every single athlete that most people think is god fearing or a great person…. ISNT. And I get the impression that they wouldnt be as good if they were really as nice as you think they are. Also, most athletes will give almost anything at least a try if they think it’s going to take them to the next level.
Steroids have changed significantly in recent times. Not as harmful over the long term, and they have learned to “cycle” to let there bodies have a break. This has taken away some of the last hurdles for a lot of athletes.
Hope he turns out to be different. If so, he will have to be considered in the top five all time boxers, regardless of weight class.

As a fan of BOTH boxers, the discussion as to whether one or other is or has used steroids is part of the usual pre-fight mind games, but since the fight (if it goes ahead) falls under Nevada Commission jurisdiction, those are the rules that should be applied. I train with weights at a gym used by some very serious bodybuilders ranging from “natural” through the HGH & ‘roid using “monsters” that we see in wrestling rings and bodybuilding comps – and whilst both boxers have gained ring and street weight over the years, neither fits the mould of habitual steroid users, who often finish up with disproportionate muscular development and
limited aerobic stamina – which hardly reflects the state of either boxer. Both have excellent personalised training regimes and benefit from good nutrition which IS reflected in their respective condition and to lose the chance to see two real BOXERS – as opposed to sluggers – duke it out in the ring over silly mind games would be a huge loss and possibly set the potential for a recovery in the fortunes of professional boxing back many years.
As a boxing purest I am deeply sadden by the fact that the Mayweather family is and has been bastardizing the name and sport of boxing by being the dumb fucking Niggers that they are. (I am black but not a Nigger like the Mayweathers are) By Nigger I mean acting like the world owes something to them. Team Pacquiao is willing to have blood drawn a week up until the fight, AND immediately after the fight. If Pac was using anything, wouldn’t it show up there? And isn’t there other tests they could use? I don’t have any experience with testing for PEDs, but are hair follicle tests out of the question?
My coaches for every sport never wanted me to donate blood, because they said it would affect my training and endurance (even in the offseason). While the amount for a test wouldn’t be as much, it’s still the same concept. Plus Pac would lose the mental edge.
In terms of evidence of steroid use, there is none. Pac’s rise in weight and muscularity has been gradual. But even gaining 17 pounds in a year, which Pac did not do, is not out of the question. One of my friends who lifts alot gained 15 in about a month and he definitely doesn’t use anything, except protein.
Also, during Pac’s days in the lighter weight classes, people were questioning how he could even make the weight. People constantly said he was deceptively big.
Is this to say Pac’s not juicing? Who knows. I personally don’t think he is.

Lets be fair! Mayweather wanted to fight at 154lb but since Manny wanted 147lb, so agreed. Mayweather wanted 10oz gloves but since Manny wanted 8oz, he agreed. Now Mayweather wants Olympic style testing. Shouldn’t Pacman agree. Come on guys! Manny has to give up something. Isn’t that what NEGOTIATION is all about? It can’t all be on Manny’s terms. Right? The Nevada Athletic Boxing Commission rules are the same rules that everyone has been adhering to. Why come in and make demands inconsistent with the rules that have already been and will continue to be used? “Hey we are going to play the super bowl in the nfl but before I play I want us to agree to using the xfl rules for our nfl game.” Another thing to think about for everyone who says “just take the test and fight” I think it’s important to remember that these are professional athletes. I’m not a doctor or anything but red blood cells are responsible for providing oxygen to the muscles. Everyone has seen professional athletes on tv monitoring their diets and doing all kinds of other crazy things to make sure they are at their best. All of this is done to insure that they are performing at their peak on game day. If taking even a little bit of blood could possibly affect your performance in a negative way I wouldn’t wanna take the blood test either. And why should I have to if I had been complying with the same rules for years that everyone else has been complying with too? Also, I think someone made a good point above, this could all be a scheme to hype up the fight to make more money. AND I’M FALLING FOR IT CAUSE IT’S DAMN ENTERTAINING!!
