Manny Pacquiao just sign the contract already! Give the fans the fight they want!

For those of you who have been keeping up with the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao negotiations, looks like Pacman is shying away from the fight.

In Pacman’s on words he said Floyd Jr. only cares about money and not the fans.

Well if Floyd Mayweather Jr. only cared about money how come he agreed to the terms according to Espn.com?

If you claim to care more about the fans and giving them the fight they want why not sign the contract instead of demanding a 60-40 split that Roach claims you want.

If Floyd Mayweather Jr. only cares about money why is it that you are the one demanding the bigger purse and not shooting for an even 50-50 pay out with the winner getting a higher percentage of pay per view?

Looks like Money Mayweather called Freddie Roach and Pacquiao’s bluff.

Maybe Floyd Mayweather is not worn enough for Roach’s liking and they are waiting for him to look worn like Cotto, Morales, Hatton and De La Hoya before facing him.

I believe it’s more about the promoters making sure that each is “getting theirs” than it is Manny or Floyd. From a business sense, Manny’s people will demand more because he really is the bigger draw at this point.

Pacquiao cares about the fans in the sense that he’s giving all he’s got making the fight exciting.

And Gatti was 34 when Floyd fought him, Mitchell was 35, Baldomir was 35, Dela Hoya was 34, Marquez was 36, and Hatton was just stupid.

    What terms?

That’s why American marines die in Iraq on a daily basis because they don’t know the terms.

    Hearsay.

Did you know that floyd hasn’t even signed the contract yet? He agreed to the contract but it is not signed yet. This information i got from Dan Rafael from ESPN. Go there and check the video.

And what terms? All we know is that floyd just agreed…what term is it? Maybe floyd agreed because the deal is 60-40 for floyd. We don’t even know what term it is. Noone knows. All we know is the only problem is the date. Manny wants after May…GBP wants before. March is only 4 months after pac fought cotto. Why force Pac to fight right away after taking the damage he got? After may i think is better for Pac. Floyd can even get a tuneup in between that fight.

You guys really believe Manny has a shot to beat Floyd? Pacman is one dimensional. He has never faced anyone even close to Money May. He defense alone will baffle Pac let alone his counter punching ability which lets face it is the reason Pacman had such a hard time with Marquez. Money May wins this one easy.

Floyd has indeed signed the contract. Pacquiao does not want to fight Mayweather right now. He wants him to endure big wars and scars and wounds. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

No one has solved the riddle of the Mayweather defense. Manny will get very seriously hurt in this fight due to his style.

Watch the way every fighter Manny has fought…they all lead with their head. Mayweathers head is always way back and up, never down. Pacquiao will never touch him with those mini-short arms.

How does Pacquiao appear scared when he hasn’t even seen the propsal yet, much less had the chance to accept? Although Arum has flown to Manila, he has not yet met with Pacquiao to review the terms thus far negotiated between Top Rank and Golden Boy.

Now go back and review my previous comment. I did not favor either Mayweather or Pacquiao.

All I am pointing out is that bloggers like this are unreliable and lack credibility. Trust REAL news sources, as bloggers more often than not are simply inflamatory without substance or evidence.

Where is the logic in your argument? You use capital letter to stress the word LOOKS to imply it has a significantly different meaning than “appears” from my previous comment? How does it look or appear that anyone is shying away from anything? Sadly, your grasp of the language is wanting and your ability at critical thinking is in equal deficit. How can any of us assume that the terms purportedly agreed to by Mayweather are reasonable; they have not been made public. Use your brain not your emotions to comprehend and make a valid analysis.

Actually I am quite fair in all that I have said here. Any attack on my reasoning has been made through misdirection, avoiding what I have stated… Pacquiao cannot be seen as shying away from this fight as he has not yet seen the terms to agree to. It’s pretty simple.

You can now laugh at your own ignorance.

It’s funny as fu#k reading all of these excuses about Pac dodging Mayweather.

    1. Pac said May seemed afraid of him. Then May initiates talks with Arum and calls out Pac in the media.

    2. Then Mayweather agrees to a deal to fight in May and all of a sudden Pac decides to run for office so Roach says they want Mayweather in March and that Floyd was scared to fight Pac in March. Then Floyd says lets fight in March…then all of a sudden March is too soon according to Roach who said JUST ONE DAY EARLIER that March is when they wanted to fight.

    3. Now Pac is claiming he doesnt want to fight and that he wants 60% which is a complete joke and everyone knows it. This is a 50/50 fight if ever there was one.

lastly, Pac seems to be wimping out and does not seem real excited to fight Mayweather…even though he stands to make 50 million dollars which could help buy him the election if he so desires.

Sorry Pacman excuse makers…but so far, your boy is looking like a fraud and Roach is looking like a coward trying to protect his paper tiger.

Manny should man up and fight March 13th! If Floyd is ready 2 go then give the people what we have been waiting for!! I’m a cotto fan and I didn’t hear anybody say let’s give Cotto a couple more months before he fights Pacman after his grueling fight and cut that he suffered against Clottey! What was it 4 or 5 months after that fight n Cotto took way more punishment in that fight than Pac did againt COTTO. SO MAN UP PaC AND FIGHT FLOYD AT 147 ON MARCH 13.

Freddie Roach has been caught in lies numerous times in numerous interviews. Truthfully, it seems Freddie Roach wants to milk this for every dollar they can get because this is NOT a fight Manny can win. Manny is Roach’s money train. It can come to a dead halt with a loss to Mayweather.

Cotto should have never taken that fight so soon after Clottey. Poor decision making on his part.

I predict Manny will have a tough night. He is suceptable to cutting, and Floyd will exploit that. Manny will see the canvas multiple times because of his style of leaping and lunging in.

    @Tenessee Mike Smits

keep trying. you still haven’t proven anything yet except breathy exclamations.

    @EXCUSES

“1. Pac said May seemed afraid of him. Then May initiates talks with Arum and calls out Pac in the media.” Mayweather made a press statement though Sky Sports saying that Pacquiao never called him out during the post fight interview and presser. Pacquiao never calls anyone out immediately after a fight, he defers to his management and promoters. This is nothing new. When asked by KTLA, he stated for the record that he did want to fight Mayweather. Btw, Mayweather had a very similar response in his post fight interview following the Marquez fight, he deferred to his management team (even with Mosley in his face asking for a fight).

“2. Then Mayweather agrees to a deal to fight in May and all of a sudden Pac decides to run for office so Roach says they want Mayweather in March and that Floyd was scared to fight Pac in March. Then Floyd says lets fight in March…then all of a sudden March is too soon according to Roach who said JUST ONE DAY EARLIER that March is when they wanted to fight.” Pacquiao made the decision to be a candidate in the 2010 elections before he fought Hatton in May 2009 and allready tried to become a civil servant in 2007, so if more than a year in advance is “all of a sudden” then you are right.

“3. Now Pac is claiming he doesnt want to fight and that he wants 60% which is a complete joke and everyone knows it. This is a 50/50 fight if ever there was one.” How is it possible to claim he doesn’t want to fight AND that he wants 60% of the purse? Don’t you mean “unless he gets”? I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Also how do we know that Mayweather agreed to 50%-50% split and not something more favorable to him like 60%?

Caveman…it was Freddie Roach that stated that they wanted March 13th as the date to fight!!!

    To Eric Sean…

    1. When Mayweather said “Pac would be easy work” and did the sky interview, he called Manny out and you know it. Quit with the semantics. Manny’s reply came only when cornered by an LA reporter and it seemed half-assed and forced. I realize, and respect the fact that Manny is not a trash talker, but he is the one who said “I think Mayweather is afraid to fight me” only a month ago, so it seems odd that all of a sudden he appears to be backtracking.

2.I realize Pac had political aspirations before Mayweather agreeing to terms, but if you go back and look, his camp had no problem trying to line him up for another tomato can at 154 lbs before the election as I’m sure youve read the comments from Roach and Arum that I have. And how do you explain Roach saying that they wanted to fight Mayweather in March, but Floyd wasnt willing to, then the next day Mayweather agrees to fight him in March, only for Roach to come out and say they didnt want to fight in March…even though he just said they did, and before that, they were lining up the other fight for Pac in March if the May fight fell through?

    3. Regarding purse, Im assuming Mayweather’s side agreed to or made a reasonable case to Arum for what Mayweather should get or what he should take before Arum decided to fly all the way over to PI. Arum has a financial stake in this also, and obviously has to best represent his fighter. No way Arum takes a bad deal to Pac…especially with Mayweather.

So, I hear ya, and you seem like you know what you are talking about, and I respect your support of Pac…as he is a great champ and warrior and seems like a decent guy…recent affair aside, but many of us find these events to be ironic, and it seems crystal clear….as of right now…..who is ducking who. Roach and Manny both seem intimidated right now…cause you and I both know that if they thought Manny could win, plus take 50 million home, they would jump at it. But like other posters have pointed out, once Manny loses, the game is up. Especially with the way Mayweather tends to completely shut out and dominant fighters. This will probably not be some Leonard/Hearns or classic war. My guess is that it will be closer to the Marquez fight with the possibility of Pac hurting him with a few shots here and there…but in the end, a UD for Mayweather or late knockout.

Well first of all, Nobody has even signed the contract yet, not even floyd. He only agreed in principle, but nothing is signed. So get your facts straight! Pacquiao is thousands of miles away on the other side of the globe and has yet to hear the proposed deal by Arum and Mayweather.

It wouldn’t be unreasonable for pacquiao to request the fight in MAy instead of March as he just got off a tough win over Cotto and is still nursing a broken eardrum. He needs time to heal and recuperate his body. Besides, I think a fight in May would only add more hype and make it a bigger event

    to EXCUSES

Excellent rebuttal. You also have proven to be well informed and able to use your faculties to reason out an argument and provoke thought.

    1. The quote you are referring to is: “I don’t think it’s going to happen,” Pacquiao said. “I’m sure he doesn’t want to fight.” This is about as close as Pacquiao has ever come to calling out another fighter; even veteran reporters who have followed Pacquiao’s career were taken aback by this quote. This way of expressing himself is partially a cultural thing, and partially a foundation of Pacquiao’s personality. He is enormously humble and is not really capable of talking trash: an observation voiced by some that was a major factor in the Pacquiao/Cotto 24/7 lacking legitimate drama and conflict… neither man was willing to talk negatively about the other. That is not to say they were not completely confident in their own abilities and their own chances in the fight, you just had good guy vs. good guy. Review all of Paquiao’s quotes from the past and you won’t find anything that sounds like he is calling out anyone. During the Cotto post fight presser, he referred to himself as “ordinary” and we all know that is not the case. Westerners take this behavior as a lack of confidence and seem to accept that the louder person must be more sure of himself. In Asia we have a saying, “an empty can makes the most noise”. Pacquiao’s relative silence does not tell me he is scared.

    2. The talk of Pacquiao taking on Foreman at 154 has as much weight as the talk of Mayweather going after Ricky Hatton’s little brother Mathew. Both camps are using those matchups to threaten each other into getting this deal done. You can decide for yourself which of these alternate, make-believe matchups can be seen as more challenging or interesting. And if you think Mayweather is considering fighting Mosely, should this fight fall through, then I am allowed to believe that Pacquiao will fight Williams, they both have the same probability of happening.

    3. Arum’s trip was not the emergency rush to get a contract signed trip it has been made out to be. The trip was planned before the Cotto fight and the main focus of the trip was to finalize a deal between Top Rank and ABS-CBN (a major Philippine television network). We really have no idea what the terms that were agreed to by Mayweather involve. The fact that Arum is flying to the Philippines does not mean that he has the final terms in hand, just what he was able to accomplish with Schaefer in the few days of negotiating that they had prior to the trip. There is no actual contract and the terms that Mayweather agreed to might be sent back to Shaefer via Arum in the form of a counter offer. Pacquiao has every right to send back his own offer if he disagrees in part or in whole. This is a negotiation not an arbitration.

Enjoy the uncertainty as knowing the result of everything instantly would honestly be quite boring. This is what is keeping us riveted, otherwise if we all knew the winner and result, why bother having the fight at all? Both fighters have a very good chance of winning this fight, exactly the reason this match garners such rampant hype and anticipation, but that is another conversation to be saved for when the contract is signed.

umm guys… less than an hour ago:

“I met with Manny this morning… it was positive,” Arum said during the announcement of a tie up between Top Rank and ABS-CBN Broadcasting network Friday afternoon.

“You guys can interpret that anyway you want,” said Arum. “But you see a smile on my face so I’m not disappointed [with the Pacquiao meeting].”

The seasoned promoter said he will be leaving for the US on Sunday so that he can finalize all the arrangements with Mayweather’s camp to finally seal the deal and announce the mega-fight.

“Now my job is to go back to the United States, sit with Richard Schaefer (CEO of Golden Boy Promotions) and the Mayweather people… so that we can make an announcement in a short term,” said Arum.

“My goal is that we can make a preliminary announcement sometime next week,” he added.

So what were we talking about again? Pacquiao looks like he is shying away from a fight?

Now I don’t know the logistics of the issue…but Arum obviously does. It he has to go to the Philippines and you’re back here spreading rumors in the hopes of getting folks to think Pacquiao is trying to avoid signing a contract HE HAS YET TO EVEN SEE that makes you a Dunderhead. You do understand that Pac is on the other side of the planet from where Floyd is? FLOYD FANS! What clowns. Mayweather has ducked the best Welters in the world for going on half a decade (hasn’t fought any of them) and you guys can’t wait for Arum to fly from here to there before whining that Pac’s ducking Floyd Gayweather. Really? You can’t count and you have the gall to call anyone an idiot? I know 2nd graders that have better mathematical skill than you do.

    May 2nd (Hatton/Pacquiao)
    196 days between
    Novemer 14th (Cotto/Pacquiao)
    119 days between
    March 13th (Mayweather/Pacquiao)

As far as I know, 196 days is LONGER than 119 days, not the other way around. Even the proposed May 1st date is only 168 days from Pacquiao’s last fight, which is also less time than between the Hatton fight and the Cotto fight.
