Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.; the Doubt of One’s Self

If you think of all of what’s going on in the much awaited boxing match of the decade between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. you have to be amazed on how the mind games have played out between the two camps.

Yet all these amazing tactical strategies they put out before the bout had somewhat its share of what really is happening on their minds, I call it the doubt of one’s self.

There’s something in their mind that may happen that scared them. It is not the fight itself because they are used to fighting in their whole life but the idea of greatness and fame and how they can salvage their legacy.

Let’s get into the mind of Floyd Mayweather Jr.; He is used to the attention that he is getting before and no one will surpass that or even come at close until Manny Pacquiao comes along and did something spectacular that the whole world gets awe in amazement .

With Floyd’s character and the competition of fame in his vein will not allow that Pacquiao would gain more popularity in his homeland the US than he can ever imagined. Floyd will not be fighting for his legacy or greatness but the fame he has endured for the past few years. Because we all know he fights for his safety first before anything else.

Now facing the opponent that can put his perfect record in jeopardy give this doubt in his mind if it’s really worth it a shot.  Because not all money can put you in the stardom, you may have all the money in the world and still you will not get notice by people.

He is thinking if he lost that bout the shining star that he has will fade away and turn into dust.  With his confident sleek cocky character if that happens and lost in devastating way his world will never be the same. No one would ever listen to him and care on what he has to say and that would scare him big time.

In case of Manny Pacquiao he is not afraid of fighting anybody or afraid of losing his greatness and fame because he doesn’t have such when he started out. All he cares before is to have something to give for his mother and be out of poverty.

Now he is just protecting his legacy, the legacy that he made out of hard work, pain and sacrifice. The doubt that all of those years of hard work he had put through would soon vanish in the blink of an eye because of an honest mistake.

I don’t think Manny Pacquiao is cheating or doing something illegal but what if he had taken of what he thought a vitamin or supplement that he doesn’t even know that is banned by NSAC, that I call an honest mistake.

But that would tarnish his legacy that he is protecting all his life. Because even if that test would only capture once and be retested again and comes out clean the damage is done and you can’t change the perception of people anymore that you once took a banned substance.

With different culture and different upbringing both this fighter has different mindset and takes on certain things. They have different phobia to deal with and different view of what they believe works and don’t work. So they should respect each other’s take on different issue.

A character of pushing yourself to the limit is more important than any material things this world can offer and that is the only thing that can make a man satisfied.

“Manny is not afraid of fighting anybody”

“Manny legacy was made out of hard work, pain, and sacrifice”

Nobody would care about Floyd, an udefeated 40-0 boxing genius who DESTROYED Marquez(who arguably beat Pac Man twice), if he lost to Manny? WHAT?

So you’re saying Floyd is scared and didn’t build his UNDEFEATED legacy from hard work and sacrifice? BULLSHIT! Manny Pacquiao’s wife might as well wrote this story cause its obvious that you’re being biased toward Pacquiao. How is Floyd scared when PACQUIAO AND BOB ARUM ARE THE ONE’S BACKING OUT OF THE FIGHT?

Racism is still alive in this world and its sad.

it’s funny, if you were a real boxing afficionado (Slim ChiTown)you would know that their were no slick african americans fighting in the feather weight division when pacquiao reigned. Most of the contenders for that division where mexican. Do more research buddy!

By insisting on the extensive drug tests, the Mayweathers are all but saying that Pacquiao has looked like a monster that might hurt Floyd and therefore he is using PEDs etc. If Manny is clean, then the Mayweathers have conceded that Manny would hurt Floyd. Either way, as long as Manny comes with the same power and endurance he has shown lately, the Mayweather’s think he will hurt PBF. BTW – I’ll fight anyone on this blog. Just say where and when.

What’s the difference if they get blood from Manny after the last
    round?
Would they not be able to detect any “drugs” in that case?

    Hey Slim,

Floyd managed not to fight Mosley or Paul Williams at his prime. Seems like he’s ducking slick African American fighters, too. They were considerably the other best two welterweights at the time.

Why don’t you send in your article with your knowledge of the game rather than talk about it. And, learn how to spell and punctuate properly. You might make people laugh but not important enough to take seriously.

why all of a sudden drug test for pacquiao, floyd never asked hatton, oscar, marquez and other fighters he fought to do drug test, why is that? oh did you also know that mayweather jr. also ducked a fight against miguel cotto before mayweather jr. retired. just face it, pacquiao is a better fighter, and is willing to submit tests. just face it floyd, your scared, you should of kept your mouth shut about talking smack about pacquiao, like floyd said he will fight anyone cause he is the best and he is the real pound for pound king, but when it comes to pacman, he wants to do olyimpic style drug test, what a coward you should of stayed retired and not called out pacquiao.

It just a part of the game to have a word and psy war before the fight. But finally Mayweathers will realize that it is all about money. And they are nothing but a bunch of fools if they did not accept the fight. He must accept it and do a Dela Hoya in the ring (quit). Then go home and bring the losers bacon worth millions of dollars.

For those who say Manny is afraid to fight Mayweather listen and try to understand this. Moving up to a much heavier weight category takes a lot of courage. Fighting bigger fighters takes a lot of courage. But why are father and son brought more harassments? This is just a “reverse psychology”. They are the ones using drugs. That’s why they fabricated this conspiracy so that in the end everybody will decide to forget all about the drug testing. So that they can away with it. Clever!!! But they cannot get away with it easily…Or, maybe Mayweather Sr. and Jr. are SCARED!

i dont think either fighter is ducking the other i think its all a case of hype the more people they can make think that this fight might not happen the more people will watch it. I also think mayweather is doing his best mohammed ali impression and trying to get in mannys head. This fight will go ahead cos the money available is so vast 20 million expected of the doors alone it will happen. i can understand mannys reluctance to giving blood so close to the fight but is it really cause for such delay i think not. my prediction and dont get me wrong i love manny and would love him to win and if he can catch and hurt mayweather early and build on that then this will be an epic war that he might come out on top of. How ever if mayweather uses his usual hit and run style old school slip defence to its full potential and can figure manny out by round 5 the fight will be lack luster and dominated by mayweather.

People need to understand that all of this is hype. Its all about the money!! Everybody keeps talking about how mayweather is running from all of these fighters, this is a business and if your the top dog y would you fight boxers who’s hype isn’t on your level. Yes their climbing up the rankings but their still questionable if they are #2 contenders. Manny & Floyd are perfect for each other they are the hottest boxers in the world. Fighting anyone else would be uncivilized.

mayweather is doin exactly wat he allways dose playin mindgames its all hype built up to sell the fight. floyd is tryin to get under manny”s skin like he did in the hatton fight not to say that he did’nt deserve to win against ricky he clearly out boxed hatton in every department. but that was hatton this is pacquiao the the pacman who will bring mayweather and his camp tumbling down. like he did hatton like he did del a hoya and any man you put in front of him, manny would probbly give david haye a run for his money.as far as drugs are concerend please!these men are fighters fighting is their drug.and from my point of view its not a matter of IF but whene this fight gose ahead and trust me it will. i fancy manny to win in 6
