The long awaited rematch between Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. was derailed on December 2, 2009 at the Acer Arena, Sydney, Australia, as the Australian slugger Danny Green KO’d the 40 year old former world champion. Roy Jones Jr. was fighting for the IBO cruiser-weight belt, which would of been his 5th title in 5 different weight classes, but couldn’t even get passed the first round.
Danny Green dropped Jones Jr. with an overhand right, once Roy beat the count, Danny Green went in for the kill with a non stop barrage of combination punches as Jones Jr. lay on the ropes covering up without throwing any punches back forcing the ref to stop the fight.

The ref shouldn’t have stopped the fight so soon. Roy was looking in trouble but he might have been able to shake it off and continue.
Roy may have been able to make it through the round and Danny would have been gassed giving Roy a great opprotunity to come back and land some of his own bombs. Just sayin!
I know he’s 40 but I think this screams rematch in the U.S. Different out come.
