Manny Pacquiao And Steroids: The Truth And What It Is Really All About

The fight of the decade is now currently off and the cloud of steroids is now hanging over the Pound for Pound King. Now he is basically being mandated by the opposite side, some fans and boxing analysts to furnish proof that he is not a cheater. This is a fighter who has never tested positive for using any illegal substance or been involved closely with anybody that has been associated with the issue of steroids.

The issue now is not Pacquiao refusing to take the blood test but the terms and who will conduct the tests. Remember, the blood test is not part of the Nevada Athletic Commission testing, yet Pacquiao is being pressured to take a “non-mandatory” type testing. He’s already willing to go above and beyond what is required even though he’s passed all the tests necessary, including blood tests that are required whenever he needed to renew his boxing license in Nevada.

What is it really all about?

First it’s about Pacquiao’s skills constantly being undermined. His critics from the start recognize him as an exciting fighter with limited skills and potential.  Paulie Malignaggi in past interviews with fighthype.com and Boxingscene.com gave Floyd Jr. and Roy Jones Jr. the benefit of the doubt in regards to their success in the higher weight classes, but doubted Pacquiaos capacity to do it without any help based on his skills set.  Obviously many of his critics have already formed a preconceived idea of what Pacquiao can or can’t accomplish.  So, they can’t fathom the fact that he’s been able to achieve so much. Why do you think new excuses pop up when Pacquiao achieves something?

What’s next? He needs to shave his porn mustache because it bothers his opponent.

What they don’t into account is that Pacquiao like other great athletes is a dedicated student of his respective sport who continues to hone his skills despite the level of success he’s reached.  Also, unlike many boxers such as Mayweather, he didn’t have the privilege of having proper training and the chance to polish his skills through the amateurs when he first started boxing.  Now with his work ethic combined with Roach’s guidance, he’s able to transform into a more complete boxer and consequently attained the level of success that many did not expect from him.

It’s also about the Mayweathers’ camp attempting to sway the public sentiments towards them.

Floyd Mayweather for the longest time has been trying to do his Ali impersonation in trying to be the biggest star in the sport; the problem is it’s not working. Meanwhile, Pacquiao just went on about his business and became arguably the biggest superstar in the sport by doing it the old fashioned way of fighting the best.

Now Mayweather can’t accept that a fighter who he sees as inferior has achieved what he always aspired for himself. As a result, he had to associate Pacquiao’s name to steroids to get the support of the American public.

But let’s be honest and stop tiptoeing around the main reason why many accuse of Pacquiao of steroids. Many have mentioned the names of Mosley, Bonds, Vargas and Bonds in relation to Pacquiao. The difference is there was no real public outcry about them using steroids until evidence was found linking them to it. So far, no evidence whatsoever about the use of steroids has ever been associated to Pacquiao.

Tiger Wood’s doctor has just been arrested for allegedly using and importing performance-enhancing drugs. How come there’s not a public outcry for Woods to be tested or discussions about whether his accomplishments were tainted. Sure, the issue has been overshadowed by his extra-marital scandals, but that’s not the only reason.

The real reason is because of ignorance and how people put groups in certain categories. The athletes mentioned above were given the benefit of the doubt before possible evidence of steroids use came out, because most of us subconsciously thought that they were genetically capable of achieving what they had done.

Now, a Filipino in a sport historically dominated by Latinos, Americans and Europeans has become its most popular and accomplished star. Suddenly, doubts are cast about how Pacquiao has been able to attain such a level of success. I’ve even heard statements that if past boxing legends such as Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard couldn’t do what Pacquiao did, then there must be something. Well, I say why can’t a Filipino like Pacquiao do it? Pacquiao controls his own destiny and his greatness is not dependent on other’s accomplishments.

It’s also been proven in history that just as records are made to be broken, another athlete is bound to arise to set new standards in his/her respective sport. Who’s considered by most as the best basketball player of all time? It is Michael Jordan and not Chamberlain or Robertson.

Furthermore, contrary to popular belief, Filipinos along with other Asian or Pacific Islander groups come in all sizes and are involved in most if not all of the major sports.

There is Eugene Amano, a guard for the Tennessee Titans and Eugene Espineli pitches for the San Francisco Giants. Both of them are full-blooded Filipinos. As a group, Filipinos are as capable of reaching the same level of greatness as any other group. Would Pacquiao’s accomplishments be questioned as much if he was African American, Hispanic or of European descent?

Pacquiao has been in the sport for 15 years and it’s inevitable that his body would develop as he grew older. Have you seen pictures of Kobe or Jordan when they first came to the league? Do they look the same as in the latter parts of their careers?

Mayweather himself is a five divisional champion and fought all the way up to the junior middleweight division. How come no one is questioning him about steroids and Pacquiao is being singled out? Let’s remember Pacquiao started at the 106-pound division when he was 16 years old and Floyd Jr. was a 106-pound Golden Gloves champion at the same age. It’s all rooted from the same ignorance that led many before to believe that blacks didn’t have the intelligence to become quarterbacks.

Let us also remember the fact that Pacquiao grew up dirt poor, and came from a Third World country and thus was not receiving the proper nutrition. You think the ghetto here is bad; it is heaven compared to its counterpart in Third World countries such as Somalia and the Philippines. Now, Pacquiao’s got the resources to have the best possible training and nutrition at his disposal.

Now let’s analyze the reasons his detractors believe that Pacquiao is taking illegal substances. They’ve said that Pacquiao has gained about 20-pounds of muscles mass. Is Pacquiao now a super middleweight? If that’s the case then he might as well take Jermaine Taylor’s place in the Super Middleweight Tournament. The fact is that he has not even made the maximum weight in most of his fights above the lightweight division.

It’s just an exaggerated statement made by envious people who know that most fans will take it at face value without looking at the facts. It was the same case when Mayweather detractors said that the latter had a 20-pound advantage over Marquez during their fight. You can’t always believe what you hear.

If you are a hardcore boxing fan then you should know that Pacquiao had been draining himself to make the weight in the lower divisions and thus was forced to move up in weight. In addition, his weight has not dramatically risen as Floyd Sr. and others try to make you believe. His weight during fight time has been constantly around 144 to 148 since his junior lightweight days. The truth is that he has outgrown the lower weight divisions and is just forced to lose less weight.

Also Mayweather had released statements that it’s for the sake of sportsmanship and fairness. I guess showing up two pounds over the weight limit shows professionalism and fairness. We also have Schaefer stating that Pacquiao should have no problem undergoing the Olympic-style drug testing. This is from a guy who was previously quoted in an Associated Press article as saying that the Nevada Athletic Commission testing is sufficient enough when Zab Judah wanted Shane Mosley to take a blood test during negotiations for a possible fight.

Others have also criticized Pacquiao for using superstition as an excuse for refusing to take a blood test. Is this coming from real sports fans and analysts? If it is, they should know that superstitions have been part of sports since day one and many athletes follow certain rituals very seriously before or while playing their respective sports. Michael Jordan always wore his blue Carolina shorts before each game for good luck. Baseball pitcher Turk Wendell brushed his teeth and chewed licorice between innings.

What is also not being discussed is the cultural difference in regards to superstitions.  Many in this country may not hold superstitions in high regard but in the Philippines, it is part of everyday life in many parts of the country.  A number of people in the country still prefer spiritual healing as the method to cure sickness.  There also numerous other superstitions that Filipinos follow very seriously that might seem ridiculous to outsiders.  But who to say that they are wrong and should abandon their beliefs?

The criticisms about Pacquiao’s fear of needles and how it might affect him are also ignorant. Did they mention that Pacquiao felt weakened when blood was drawn before the first Morales fight? Who is to say that it won’t affect him? I know someone that feels dizzy for a week when he takes a blood test. It might be all psychological but it affects your performance nonetheless. Each person’s body is different; some people can go to work with a hangover and some can’t.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if Michael Jordan was required by the opposing team to take a unnecessary blood test before Game 7 of an NBA championship?

We’ve also heard a few people bring up the fact that if Pacquiao can have tattoos, then he should not have a problem with taking a blood test. The difference is that Pacquiao can go home and rest after he has his tattoos done. He’s not waking up the next day to face one of the best boxers in history. Boxing is a violent sport and a fighter must be ready both mentally and physically.

This issue shouldn’t even be taken seriously and the timing of it is suspicious. It’s funny how Oscar said that Pacquiao didn’t hit hard, yet now feels that Pacquiao should succumb to a ‘non-mandatory ‘ drug testing. It’s even more laughable when it’s coming from Mayweather Jr., whose credibility is questionable and has a history of hypocrisy. Mayweather needs to step up and sign the contract if he truly wants to fight Pacquiao before it’s too late. Pacquiao’s legacy is already secured as an all-time great and doesn’t need Mayweather to validate his greatness

Now, IF YOU REALLY THINK MANNY IS ROID, YOU WOULD ACCEPT THAT OFFER INCLUDING THE TEST RIGHT AFTER THE FIGHT.

    GUESS WHAT!

anyways why are they pushing the test so bad for manny. i heard that the same people that conjure up this “escape plan” are the same people who handles Berto, and the Mosely/berto fight is up and coming so why not push the test for them. if they are in fact that worrisome for their fighters for an even playing field, i would think that they would demand that from mosely who is also known for taking PED in the past with that BALCO situation. am i right? or are they just developing this plan to get into manny’s head. their argument has no substance at all and shows who they really even, Schaefer refused mosely for the test in the past against ZabJudah, bunch of snakes.

Lets all be honest. Pacquiao is already regarded as One of the Best Boxers of all time. Probably because I am bias to Ali (Love Casius Clay). Although, Mayweather is a copy cat of Ali, he does not have Ali’s Charisma. The fact is Mayweather is not a factor. Pacman does not need Floyd to secure his Legend. The only reason why there are so much talks and controversy about this fight is because we want to see Mayweather knocked out. There is no better satisfaction to so many to see this arroagant, big mouth thug defeated by a humble counterpart. Its poetry. Its Drama at its best. Its Biblical. Good VS Evil, David and Goliath. Pacquiao’s Action speaks louder than a the Pretty Boy’s Big Mouth. So either March or November —- LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE.

Hats off to you Mr. Suares, I finally found the right article that is worth reading. Your lines are consistent. @ S—Roach could only train dela hoya so much… Manny is a natural talent. I’ve watched him fight when he was just at his teens and he could’ve only spoken 2 words in english then . He couldn’t have even spelled steroids during that time, I’m sure. But he won over much bigger and more experienced fighters, 2nd round, 3rd round knock outs. I then told myself, we have a king in the making. And I was right… You could not blame us Filipinos, if we’re really so certain that Pacquiao is clean. I don’t know how sure you are about mayweather’s balls, if he’s got one..

very nice article, and one more thing i’ve never heard or known a filipino athlete that was tested positive for steroid but i can name several athletes, americans, mexicans and europeans who cheat in their respective sports. mayweather wants to bully pacquiao from the very beginning of the negotiation and i’m glad and very proud of pacquiao that he did not allow floyd of his arrogance. Our integrity is very important than money that’s what most of the people here don’t understand.

Yeah I agree with you man, a cheater accused his opponents of cheating without proof because he himself cheats for advantage over his foe. XYLOCAINE is banned substance except NEVADA for now simply because of Floyd Mayweater Jr. lives there. Let’s face it he is the cash cow of Nevada now. I hate to say this but he is untouchable in in that state, remember that shooting incident that he is involved, what happen to that case, NOTHING! because he is protected by his COHORTS, business MOGUL who runs that state.

    farrrrrt on January 9th, 2010 6:51 pm

Interestingly, Mayweather’s the known PED user here. XYLOCAINE to numb his hands, banned in every state but Nevada, is his PED of choice. Explains why he would want to avoid fighting anywhere but Nevada. And this is the guy making accusations of PED use against another? XYLOCAINE, FLOYD. XYLOCAINE. What sort of advantage does that give you when you can wail away on people without any regard to the pain in your hands if you land a mis-hit? Hypocrisy at its finest. XYLOCAINE!

it’s kind of idiotic to say that pac-man is actually on steroids just because some freaks baselessly said so. If pac-man is on steroids at 145 lbs./5’6″, then we can all say that mayweather is also on steroids at 154 lbs./5’8″ and all the fighters to that effect. What has been amazing with Pac-man is how he won in the lighter divisions when he is in fact a natural WELTERWEIGHT?

the reason people are wondering he is using steriods its him moving up in weight and not losing his power it has nothing to do with his race. Another reason is he wont take the test, Mayweather offered a 14 day window and Ms.Pacman wouldn’t take it. I think 2 weeks is more than enough to “recover” from the blood being taken out from him.

Here’s Teddy Atlas again re Pacquiao-Clottey. Teddy, Pacquiao is simply fighting the best there is and if you think he’s dangerous for Pacquiao, so be it because he doesn’t cherry pick his opponents like you know who. If he fights Yuri you will say he is cherry picking. Pacquiao does not want to fight him because he is not in his class and would not attract a lot of audience. Clottey is one of the top 5 welter there is and will give Pacquiao a run for his money which is what the people wants to see. If Manny loses, so what? He is not paranoid about losing unlike someone who wants to keep his “0″ forever. So, what gives now Teddy, seems like Manny can’t do anything right, right?

And I thought that America was a nation of laws. Turns out that those who feel that Pacquiao must agree to Mayweather’s demands don’t believe this. Either that, or Mayweather has just been allowed to set the official boxing rules.

Pacquiao has never been found guilty of breaking any of the rules or regulations of the professional boxing regulatory bodies.

Since when has Mayweather been given the power to set boxing rules?

Manny is just following the rules, which do not require random blood testing. Any additional demands by Mayweather are mere contractual details, which Manny is not required to agree to. Manny’s the bigger draw, and he has the right to refuse any points that he’s not in agreement with. That does not mean that he’s guilty of hiding something. Why should he be forced to undergo random testing just to satisfy Mayweather’s demands?

Isn’t a contract a meeting of the minds? Well, there’s no meeting of the minds here, and that doesn’t mean that Manny’s guilty of anything.

Isn’t the principle “innocent until proven guilty” the foundation of the American justice system? Isn’t the burden of proof on the accuser?

BTW, does the name Sen. McCarthy mean anything to those who say Pacquiao must take the blood test?

I agree, this piece by O. Suarez is comprehensive and analytical. Very enlightening. I also thought that the Mayweather camp was just trying to get a psychological advantage and never intended to play in a leveled playing field, so to speak. Now, l’il Mayweather is fast becoming a joke in the boxing world. The Mayweathers and GBP did not expect that there are actually a lot of people with common sense in the boxing who easily see their smokescreens & unfounded accusations. Their stupid plan sure backfired.
It may be a blessing in disguise that the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight fell thru ‘cuz it could have been a snoozer with l’il Mayweather running away the whole fight. Now, we can look forward to a Pacquiao-Clottey fight which looks a better match.

    @ mR.right.

I think you are missing the point. When one is accused, the accuser has the BURDEN OF PROOF.

In this case, Manny does not have to prove anything, Floyd does. That is the whole point.

And if the court orders Pacquiao to prove it, then they can just present the Nevada’s Anti-Doping Testing results from Manny’s previous fights. By the way, in case you do not know, they found Manny clean of any PED. Also, its prudent on the Nevada Court of Justice’s part to honor their own States test results.

Mayweather is a great fighter, no doubt about that. He tends to be like Ali but no Charisma. He is Un-likeable, arrogant and a Bully. Some people, especially the coward and spineless, surrender too easily to the demands of the Bully. But there are those are steadfast, who come together and beat the bully down.

One dollar of 40 Million dollars, some principles, values and beliefs are not for sale.

So to those of you who misundertood Manny, this fighter is championing and honoring a whole Nation. So clearly, clean reputation and honor are more important.

This PBF is a wimp. He’s already invited Manny to fight in his own neighborhood, probably party with all the judges too, and now wants his own team of doctors to test and weaken pacman before the fight so he can stand a change of beating manny. That’s just too much. 10% ppv share for Floyd is all I’d give. Many people react poorly when blood is drawn, and manny already agree to post-fight test. If he is taking roids, it will not disappear out of your system once the final round ends. I say PBF’s head and ego is getting a little too big and alot of ignorant fans out there are not seeing the fact that Floys fears Manny and is trying to muster all he can make the fight work in his favor even before the actual fight happens.

Oh, yeah. Mayweather Sr. has been convicted of a drug related crime. That’s a fact.

So following the Mayweather premise that the sport should be clean, why doesn’t the Mayweather party require all members of of their group to take these drug tests first as a show that they’re honest and sincere in wanting a drug-free sport?

And that anyone with a previous history of drugs be totally banned from the sport?

Before they start pointing fingers at others, look at themselves first to see if they’re truly clean.

Floyd and company was not expecting this reaction from the global community, the backlash to a requirement beyond what is normal. Floyd said he is the one that draws crowd to boxing-that he singlehandedly brought boxing alive again as he is the best thing that happened here. Its interesting to see what happens in March 13-if he can command a bigger crowd than Manny’s. If I were his handlers, I’d be having second thoughts by this time based on the global reaction.

It’s time to move on. Mayweather will get a crack at Pacquiao before he retires, he will never leave that $40M on the table. Believe me, win or lose, the two fighters definitely wants it. That’s a lot of dough man. The fight will not be on March but definitely this year.

Cut the bullshit. If Manny isn’t on steroids, then take the damn test, his opponent, Mayweather has not asked Pacquiao to do anything that he is not willing to do himself. Taking a drug test to get a license to box in Nevada and passing it at that time is irrelevant to the issue, anyone with even an ounce of common sense knows that there are medications/herbs that can wash drugs out of your system within a short period of time. To be fair, both fighters should take a blood test before the fight and within 24 hours of the fight to confirm that this will be a fair fight for both fighters, in the end, the fans are the ones who will benefit, because they will know that it was a clean fight and that the best fighter won, without the aid of sport enhancement drugs. Take the drug test Pacquiao, your excuses are all lame. You should care more about your fans. I don’t blame Mayweather for wanting a blood test, he is the world’s greatest boxer, he should demand proof of a fair fight from his challenger because his belt is on the line. Pacquioa’s excuses make me wonder if he really is on some sort of enhancement drug, his refusals are getting pretty suspect. I beginning to think that Mayweather maybe right about Pacquiao.

Give MPac fair and his work ethic, effort, and to please God is victory. MP still prays hard for the other guy and if beaten congratulates and then goes on helping others-this doesn’t fit unproven accusations + slander who comes out CLEAN/RIGHT/GOOG/HUMBLE in corrupt boxing arena. This article is a joke, poor black men with very little means and training have been dominating the sport of boxing for decades. Pacman and filipinos are too new to the sport of boxing. We all welcome the new face, but lets not get carried away. Filipinos have a very long way to go to dominate boxing the way mexicans and americans have> Pacman is good, but all of a sudden we see that some think that filipinos think that we americans think that Pacman is not what he is. That is not true, Pacman is loved in this country 2nd to that of the Philippines. He is beloved more than that of FMJ.

But I do have to say, that Floyd is purely the better fighter and boxer. Manny is not a true boxer, he is a damn good slugger. His time is going to come to a close in 2010.

Pacman crossed that barrier and surpassed it to the disbelief of people like you who can say what you do not really mean but deep in your heart you are full of envy and bigotry… This is called “timid bigotry” in Psychology. Come on guys Pac-man recent fights were all former opponents of mayweather. you say he ducks and dodges boxers? Because he didnt fight cotto? A boxer that has been knocked out twice in his last few bouts. You say Floyd is scared when its black and white that he is the better boxer and 75% of the time the better boxer beats the slugger. PBF gets a bad wrap because of his persona but the biased tell it all that you people talk is ridiculous. Shame on both of them for not making the fight happen But its even worse hearing people blast 2 great fighters. If Floyd wants to cement his legacy then he must fight pacquiao. If pacquiao has nothing to hide then he should take the tests at 14 days. Plain and simple. And Remember you all are bashing a undefeated boxer(40-0) that probably is the most talented at his craft. It hurts to say but it seems a little bit racial. Never seen anybody RIP calzaghe this bad.

And i don’t think about colors of skin but real fighter such as Cotto, Morales , Barrera; Solis , Oscar and every one elese, Now thats the question is that the reason? maybe not, but how to find out, insted of making a doubt, what better oportunity to prove To the world he is the best POUN BY POUND!!!
but i guess is easy to go that way , he and his team have already valued where they lose less. I just hope that all future rivals do the same. so would verify if it is true or not if it is legal or not.

Now a boxer named James Tony tested positive for steriods. What does that have to do with Manny Pacquiao? Everything! Who was James Tony trainer yesss FREDDIE ROACHH! And whats up with the pacman asking for all of these ridiculous request for the fight which he got by the way. Hes never done that before. This article is a collection of incorrect information, and unsubstantiated opinion, but that being said, a request for a blood test is simply a challenge for both figthers to demostrate their natural genetic superiority. I tend to think that a fighter not willing to demonstrate to the boxing fans that they are indeed a natural phenomina is hiding the truth about their ability. After all its a simple test that requires very little blood that is replenished by the body in less than 24 hours. Manny may not be affraid at all and I suspect that Manny is not affraid I feel confident in saying that most of this positioning is coming from Bob Arum the guy who really stands to lose the most. Manny is Bob’s cash cow and Bob is fine, just fine, with Manny fighting all of the fighters that he has under contract. I don’t think Manny and Floyd will fight in November. I suspect Bob can make a lot of easy money buy having Manny fight Margarito. The hard dollar is fighting Floyd and he stands to lose his cash cow. Although he can always say Floyd was just too big for Manny and go on to fight at 140. Yeah, Yeah, Margarito is bigger than Floyd, but much easier to hit and much much slower. The Manny lovers will say that Floyd is affraid and the Floyd backers will say just take the test and Bob will laugh all the way to the bank with his money from the Margarito fight. It’s Bob Arum that doesn’t want the Fight not Manny. Honestly, who does Bob have under contract that can earn like Manny can earn? Nobody! Really you should pressure Bob not Manny. Manny will do what Bob says is best.

after the fights no good cause the ped’s will already have been out of his system since the last ccle of taking them. ( approximately 14-30 days)

Pac-Man is the best fighter alive due to the fact that he is a true warrior and none of his fights came easy for him… Floyd has yet to be in any type of war and his chin has yet to be tested eventhough when Mosley hit him in the second round i believed he was goin g to hit the floor… Floyd needs to tighten up his belt and put his name on the line so that we can finally watch one of the greatest possible fights of all-time….

Pacquoa could wll be on PEDs. He refused to take a random blood test. I do not care if it is not in the athletic commision of nevada, every boxer should be drug tested. if you are going out there with drugs hurting people thats a crime. It is much different to kicking a ball with drugs, or hit a ball with a bat. In boxing you could kill someone. And the thing we need to remember is RANDOM is the key, there is no point in taking a blood test if it is NOT RANDOM. If it is not random someone could easily cheat it and still the desired effects without being tested positive. Time to clean up the corrupt dirty sport of boxing.

No sir, no sir, there mustn be benefit of doubt in boxing, after what happened with mlb players you should agree in that pacquiao doesnt need to prove anything to mayweather, he needs to prove it to us, the fans, take a test after having almost killed mosley is the solution to clean his reputation

read Game of Shadows and then get back to me. go see the espn interviews with freddy roach and the phone conversation with “pacman” himself. see the interview with world famous Teddy Atlas. and what it is all about is pacmans insistence that he not be tested too close to the fight. HBO did a doc on him in another fight, and blood was taken from him a few days before and he had no problems. So why wont he get tested a month or two before the fight?, because the drugs, whatever he is taking, will still be in his system. Olympic style drug testing, which Mayweather WILL ALSO adhere to, is the only way to prove that pacman IS USING performance enhancing drugs, or the only way we know he WONT take them for that particular fight. Or lets just let Mayweather take them too and watch how fast pacman gets dismantled. Just do the tests. Do you know why cyclists take EPO?, its because it gives them more oxygen in their blood for ENDURANCE. It has been noted that Manny was declining in his career when he had those WARS with equally matched fighters. Now, not only has he gotten older and better, he is DEMOLISHING fighters. As he goes up in weight class, he is KNOCKING OUT these heavier fighters in their PRIME (Cotto for instance). Bull****. Keep it real fightfans, this man is a produced icon now…. produced by steroids, marketing and media. There’s a reason that steroids are cycled on and off. Not only to protect the user from physical harm, but mostly so that their bodies can pass them out in due time so that they cant test dirty ( see OLYMPIANS like MARION JONES, who finally admitted using because of. thats right, OLYMPIC drug testing). READ GAME OF SHADOWS people and see the truth. I guarantee that the day Manny stops taking whatever he is taking… EPO, womens hormones or HGH, he will lose his very next fight. If he ceases to use them in order to submit to Olympic style drug testing in order to get to fight Mayweather, Manny is going to be DESTROYED. You will watch as his stamina falters in the mid to later rounds, his prolific punch count will dwindle, and he will get KNOCKED OUT by Mayweather(who i cannot stand as a personality) who is not a cheater. And then you will watch one of two things happen…1. Mannys p.r. machine will go into high gear and tell anyone who will listen about how Manny tested clean, and how he underestimated Mayweather and 2. He will call for a rematch which will be worth Mega-millions, but Manny will not sign unless there is no drug testing. Or hopefully he will decide to stop taking this stuff right before the Marquez match coming up in Sept. 2011, and Marquez finally knocks this guy on his ass for good. If Manny wants to be seen as a true champ, he has to stop with this B.S. about not being tested 15 days before the fight. We all know by then, his phd’s will have passed through his system. He needs to be tested like Mayweather, and like an Olympian, days, weeks and months before the fight to prove he is who he says he is, otherwise he is just another Bonds, Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery, Mark McGuire,Sammy Sosa, A-Rod, Manny Ramirez, Rafeal Palmiero, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield, Lance Armstrong, etc.. all trying to B.S. everybody about how they didnt know what they were taking or injecting or rubbing on themselves and blah, blah, blah. The media might let them off the hook for whatever reason after a while, but why do you, the general population allow these lies to stand? dont eat the bull****. The government feeds it us on a daily basis, our bosses, sometimes our loved ones, them we have to put up with, but these athletes are openly CHEATING and lying to our faces. I make a mistake on my taxes once and it cost me. They are doing it purposefully and blatantly, and youre gonna dare start a forum like this by saying that Mannys skills are underappreciated? You know whats is underappreciated?, its how many people are ignoring the obvious. Such sheep. I want a fair fight, thats all. As an avid fight fan in a boxing game that has seen much corruption, I just want Manny to come out and say, “you want it?, you got it Floyd. Whatever it takes to get lthe fight going. I’m gonna beat your ass”. Or something to that affect to see what hes made of. Mayweather will get tested, Manny will get tested. No excuses. But be honest with yourself people, Manny is on performance enhancing drugs, PERIOD.

he’s scared of a needle? STOP, If you have any self respect,STOP IT NOW. Its not about culture clash or any of the B.S. you wrote. Manny is in the sport of boxing, its brutal. Not as brutal as MMA, but BRUTAL nonetheless! He will fight bigger fighters such as De LaHoya, Mosley, Cotto, etc… and he’s afraid of a needle?! Grow up. I dont care where he comes from, if hes a great fighter, hes a great fighter, that is so messed up that you would bring race or nationality into this. Stop crying victim when its so simple. Take the tests and get on with the fight. Have you ever heard of the scientific reasoning of, ” all things being equal, the simplest explanation to a problem is the correct explanation”? Well, here it is. Manny and Mayweather will be fighting at the same weight and they are evenly matched, and according to you it is Manny who has POLISHED his skills and honed his craft (advantage Manny, as he is on a roll for the last 6 yrs). The simplest explanation as to why Mayweather is the ONLY fighter who Manny refused to sign a contract with is……HE IS USING PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS, STEROIDS, HGH, EPO, WOMENS HORMONES, OR WHATEVER ELSE THEY HAVE OUT THERE, AND HE DOESNT WANT TO GET TESTED BECAUSE HE WILL GET CAUGHT!!!! It has been proven that good baseball players on these drugs will posess greater visual accuity at the plate, enabling them to sooner see the pitch being thrown at them, hence giving them a better reaction time to make a decision to swing at it or not. I can also see it being a boon for Tiger woods, or any golfer, for the same reasons, i.e.. better eye contact and greater strength and you get the picture. I agree with you that all athletes should be held to to same standard. Either they should all be able to take these drugs ( it is their body, I dont condone it, but it is their body), or nobody uses them. But just imagine how these drugs would help a good boxer/fighter!!! Oh yeah, you dont have to imagine it, just go watch some of Mannys fights in the past 5-7 years. Stop kidding yourself guy. If youre a true fight fan, see truth.
