I was very disappointed upon hearing the audio of radio host Adam Carolla insulting Manny Pacquiao and the Filipino people, I am American not Filipino, but I felt what he said was very ignorant and made Americans look bad. Carolla is not only a comedian but also a boxing guy, and he is good friends with Jimmy Kimmel who happens to enjoy Manny Pacquiao and invites him on his show a few days before his big fights.

The statements Carolla made were shocking. He really went off on Filipinos; if Adam ever visited the Philippines, they would have welcomed him warmly and with open arms. The Filipinos even fought alongside America against the Japanese during World War 2. The Filipino soldier had so much loyalty to America, and the Philippine soldiers would risk their life in battle for their country and to help the American troops against Japanese invaders. The Filipino soldier was limited in weaponry and they were undersized, but they made up for it with their fighting spirit.
Carolla said the Philippines as a country doesn’t have much going for them all they have are sex tours and Manny Pacquiao, and they need to get a life for following Manny Pacquiao. Most third world countries don’t have much going for them, most people live in poverty, and the dictator Ferdinand Marcos ruined the Philippines economy. As for the sex tours, every country has prostitutes, some poor females in third world countries turn to prostitution out of desperation to help feed their family, or are forced into it, they don’t enjoy it, and are ashamed of it. In America some young females turn to Porn to become famous and are proud of it, they even consider it empowering. We live in a country where you can be a whore and become famous, does that make us any better than the Philippines?
The reason the Filipinos follow Manny Pacquiao is because he boosts their morale, he gives the people hope that no matter how bad your circumstance, it is possible to make something of yourself if you work hard and never give up.
You don’t need to be a college graduate to gain the respect and admiration of the people, respect is earned, and earning the respect of a 100 million of your compatriots is an honor not many men in this world today can claim. They see in Pacquiao someone like them, a poor kid from the dirtiest parts of town, with no education, making it to the top and being somebody, now that is someone you should be proud of.
If Carolla knew the story of Manny Pacquiao, he would have nothing but respect for him, instead of calling him an illiterate, brain damaged, moron. Judge the man by the quality of his character not by how rich he was born or what type of education he claims. A man’s character and the way he treats others is more admirable than what family he was born to or what country he resides.
Pacquiao has more class and dignity than many of the Americans I know. It was very strange for Adam to attack a person who treats other people with respect and humility. What is better? Millions of American girls idolizing talentless reality show chicks who act like bimbos and sluts or the Philippines looking up to a man who carries himself with class, humility and earned his fame and fortune through talent, hard work, and dedication.

The Philippines is a country that apes the USA. It's a wanna-be, child-like country filled with under-educated pygmy-peasants. The recent tragedy of 8 foreign tourists, murdered by a former high-level cop wanting his job back, is an example of the ineptitude typical of this country run by a handful of families expecting their share of kickbacks borne by decades of corruption. The Philippines deserves nothing more than scorn and ridicule by the rest of the free world. Adam Carolla was simply ahead of the game by a few months. Never apologize to a pinoy - they're filthy scumbags after nothing but your money.

How can Filipinos be illiterate when we are the only fluent english speaking nation in whole of asia? Filipinos sometimes even outsmart americans when it comes to speaking the english language. Some americans say the words properly but the words used are not right. I love the Philippines and I also love America. Adam you have a PhD - Pubic Hair Do!
To MexicanBoy: Mexico borders with the USA and yet it is a poor country unlike Canada, with rampant prostitution and drug smugling. Mexicans living in the USA have one of the lowest median income and high school completion rate while Filipinos-Americans have one of the highest median with 90% high school graduate and the lowest poverty rate.

Couple his remarks made not just of the man but of the mans people, his culture his country I completely understand and too am outrages by his words. You must be able to say “yes” in context it could be funny. But, his statement was not made with it to be interpreted as being spoken with any sort of comedic intention rather, it was delivered with a tone of disdain if not outright disgust for the man, his culture and his people. So my response to Mr. Carolla is: I will not watch any show you are on, I will not buy any magazine you might be in, I will not nor will I allow anyone in my family to purchase anything you may endorse I will hold your friends accountable in holding you accountable to them for making them seem to agree with you just by being associated with you. I wish them luck in convincing you the error of your thoughts. I wish you no ill will aside from the demise of your celebrity status. Maybe making 35-60k a year is where you should be because that is where I am and you sir are definitely not better than me in any way, as such either I should make the same as you or you as me. Not wanting to upset anyone on this blog you should get around what I make! (See that was said in the context of humor and I am sure my readers new it.) my point is made thank you.

I am not really and was never been a fan of Manny Paquiao, but those words really offended me as a Filipino. And another thing Filipinos admire Manny but not to the extent that they would give anything for him, one big proof is when he lost the election last 2007 it only proves that many admires him inside the ring but not to the extent.......

Put these three together, Mayweather and Crayola against Pacquiao to add a little bit of excitement. I would still bet on Manny though. Why? Mayweather is no threat, because he has no offense, only defense and he is just like a bubble head, if you dont touch it "boink", it will not bounced back "toink". And it doesnt take long too for Crayola, he just need one puch and it could be helpful when he is lying in there so that Mayweather cannot run inside the whole ring. Only one problem if the two will hide on each other's back, well easy again...Manny can fire punches at will with power.

The Philippine law is in English since early 1900s. The codified law and bar exam is in English akin to the Califonia State Bar. There is even law book written by a Filipino lawyer/judge used by law students in the States. The nerve... who is stupid now Carolla. You should be sued if permissible in an International Court for malicious comments and being a racist against the Filipinos and probably some other races as well. Collective damages.

Filipino Immigrants dont need fckn translators in school like most of immigrants (Latinos, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korea, Japanese, etc.) do. They speak and understand english well, so teachers have no problems teaching them at school. I cant blame filipinos if they can speak english well since english is one of the few languages they know... search google how many languages do filipinos have. You can safely say "at least" english might be their third language they know but i doubt that since other filipinos might know 2 native filipino languages which would take english as their 4th language they know ( 2 native languages from a state=province, 1 native language which either called tagalog or filipino and english = 4 languages) If i were to compare to other immigrants like koreans, japanese, vietnamese, chinese and *mexico*, these groups of immigrants should have been superior than filipinos since all of these groups of immigrants have english as their second language. it amuses me to see why isnt like that. If i were to group filipinos to other immigrants who are fckn smart... immigrants from india and africa... they have other languages like filipinos too but still beating those groups of immigrants who have english as their second language in USA. Im not saying Filipinos dont have illiterate people and prostitution. Yes they have them. All countries have them. even usa has them fyi. when "im lmao" said, filipino immigrants, these guys are part of middle (and some lower ) class in philippines who have enough money to get themselves or their children to go to school. as for the the majority of people in the philippines, its common sense they wont learn nothing if they have no book to read from, and pencil and paper to write with, but you can see the result what money can do for a guy like manny pacman... it helped him continue his schooling.

Mexicano Soldier, if you think your claims of watching 'documentaries' make you seem smart, the way you generalize from what little you saw actually reveals your dangerous stupidity even more than your typing in all caps does. I agree with you, the truth hurts--because no one can deny there is child prostitution in the Philippines. Any instance when parents or just any adult (or like in the US news today, an older child) peddle children as prostitutes is painful. Sadly, prostitution will continue in the Philippines, in the US, in Mexico--anywhere there is abject poverty and drugs. I'm not sure what other 'documentaries' you unearthed, but from the sound of it, you seem to have very defined interests...Hm...were you using naughty search words like 'under age prostitutes', 'Child prostitution', 'Lady boy trannys' and the like...is that it? Tsk, tsk, tsk. I hope you stay away from trashy shows like Jerry Springer or you might assume that all Americans are crass, incestuous, overweight losers (just in case, I want to point out for Mr. Mexicano Soldier's enlightenment that Jerry Springer is NOT a documentary). Also, Señor Soldier, if you are ever in Mexico, do not, and I mean DO NOT go into what may sound like an innocent show featuring a woman and a horse! Stay away from these--along with all those scary spots in TJ, Ensenada and other tourist traps for they will shatter your idyllic image of prostitution and child exploitation happening only in strange places and cultures far, far away! As a Filipino Canadian, with lots of Filipino american relatives and friends, I share the author's observations on how stunning carolla's comments were. Tsk tsk tsk painting Philippines as a land of whores. I do respect carolla being an atheist but to label our beliefs as praying to chicken bones is just not funny. Had Manny been a Moslem,Carolla would have received a fatwa by now ala Salman Rushdie. As a whole, Filipino descent Americans or Canadians or Europeans are a decent group of minority, we don’t throw our weight around. Our tolerance should never be mistaken for docility or submission, what goes around comes around. Thanks for your article. No one could have said our sentiments better.
We dont know what our Muslim brothers think of this. I am offended by the religious attack by Carolla, against all Filipinos. There are Yakan, Maguidanao, Maranaw, among our other Muslim brothers in the Philippines.We co-exist in the Philippines. A verbal attack on the Philippines include them. If a certain US talk show host should be skinned alive accordingly by a Filipino politician, I wonder how Carolla would be treated when and if he visits the Philippines.
Sabre, I am deeply saddened by Adam Carolla's remarks on how we Filipinos pray on chicken bones. Probably what he meant was that Filipinos are mostly pagan idolators and he was unaware that the Philippines is majorly a Catholic country. Muslims react to his rants like every Filipino would. We do not tolerate race-bashing. However, in my own opinion we should stop talking about this nonsense because it is only extending his 5 minutes of fame, which, I believe, is the reason why he said those things in the first place. Bad publicity is still publicity, and he's getting all the attention he doesn't normally get as a mediocre comedian/podcast host. Honestly, before all this hulla baloo, I would say "Adam Who?". Not that I already know him now - I still don't find him interesting. I don't think he deserves all this infamy - he's so not worth it.
