Floyd Mayweather’s Racist Ustream Video…What’s the Big Deal?

I saw the headlines and ESPN reporting about a Floyd Mayweather Jr. racist rant directed at Manny Pacquiao and Asians, but I failed to see anything racist about the video.
Floyd was just trash talking and acting like his usual self. He was joking around with some buddies and UStream followers. If you don’t understand the black culture or come from the hood, you will never understand certain things.
I’m African-American and I grew up in the hood, and this is something that goes on, on the regular. Floyd is just a product of his environment. In the hood, you talk a lot of trash, you either got the swag or you don’t got the swag. The UStream channel has videos of Floyd showing off his cash and flossing. All I saw was a young black man having a good time with his boys and enjoying himself. Sure, the language was vulgar, but like I said, Floyd is a product of his environment, look at his pops and Uncle Roger Mayweather, they both cuss and talk rough.
Watch the video for yourself, and if you can watch it with an open mind and not be biased, you can see that the media and the haters are blowing this out of proportion. They just love to hate this man.

Now let’s break down the supposed racist Mayweather rant video:
Floyd called Manny Pacquiao “Poochiao”, funny nickname, but not racist.
Mayweather said, he would cook that yellow chump — not racist, could mean yellow as in coward or chicken scared.
Mayweather said, Pacquiao would make him some Sushi and rice — not racist at all, rice is a staple food in Asian countries, and for Sushi maybe Floyd likes Japanese food?
Mayweather said, something about eating or feeding him cats and dogs — not racist, Many Asian areas, especially the poorer third world areas eat cats, dogs and even rats.
Mayweather said, Pacquiao can’t speak no English — not racist, Pacquiao actually speaks good English for a guy who has a third grade education, but maybe Floyd meant Manny Pacquiao can’t speak “Understand” English, that is why he signed two contracts.
Mayweather said, Pacquiao was taking them “Power Pellets,” — Floyd could be referring to anything, how could people assume he is talking about steroids? Maybe he is taking some creatine supplements from GNC or some fancy energy pills?
The only offensive terms used were towards homosexuals (F@ggot) and little people (midget), if Floyd Mayweather issues an apology it should only be for those two groups of people, he doesn’t have to apologize to Asians or Manny Pacquiao.

African Americans have been the victims of racism for centuries. The writer claims to be black. I highly doubt it.

If you were black, you’d know racism when you see/hear it. If you were black, you’d know that there is no excuse for racism.

Only black people can be victims of Racist remarks, they cannot be accused of being racist, they can only be victims. This is very true now. How they make excuses when some black hits someone very low and degrading, But when a white fellow do this, black people takes no explanation at all and gets very mad.

I must disagree with this article. The things Floyd said were clearly racist.
Poochiao was obviously not racist, and I agree it was just a funny nickname.
I disagree with the author’s analysis of the “yellow” comment, I think Floyd meant it to be racist. Yellow is a common derogatory term used to describe people of asian descent. However, for the sake of argument, lets give the Floyd the benefit of the doubt and assume he was using “yellow” to mean “coward”.
There is no way a rational person can say the “eating cats and dogs” comment is not a racist comment simply because its true which is basically this author’s reasoning. Even if something is true in certain situations doesn’t mean its not racist.
In fact, when someone makes a broad generalization about an entire race of people based on a few true facts that a portion of the members of that race do, it is, by definition, racist.
If Manny went on the internet and said “I’m gonna make Floyd my personal slave and then make him feed me some fried chicken and watermelon” I seriously doubt the author of this article would say Manny wasn’t being racist just because at one time in this county’s history African Americans were slaves or just because there is a stereotype of African Americans eating fried chicken and watermelon.
Both of these statements are essentially identical and both are racist. They both make broad generalizations about an entire race of people based on stereotypes. It doesn’t matter that a statement is true, it can still be racist.
