FDNY Boxing Coach Bobby McGuire will join the Irish National Police Force, Garda Siochana officials tomorrow for a press conference and official weigh-in announcing a St Patrick’s Day Boxing Match taking place at Madison Square Garden between New York City Fire Fighters and the Irish National Police. Participating boxers will demonstrate their moves and boxing skills at the announcement.
Thousands of local fire fighters and boxing fans will attend the event to witness the first ever Pro-Am fight hosted by Madison Square Garden. There will be nine rounds between the two countries. Irish Middleweight contender Spike O’Sullivan and former world-title challenger Patrick ”The Punisher” Hyland, considered to be the best fighters in all of Ireland, will participate in the fights. The match will continue the ceaseless rivalry between the police and firefighters of this transatlantic bout.
The event is being promoted by Di Bella Entertainment. Money raised by the FDNY Boxing Team will go to ”Building Homes for Hero’s,” an organization that builds mortgage-free handicapped accessible homes for veterans returning home with severe injuries.
