Bunting defeats O’ Brien at Battle at the Boat 80

TACOMA, Wash. – Light heavyweight LaFarrell Bunting defeated a game Matt O’ Brien by majority decision in the main event of Battle at the Boat 80 at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma on Saturday.

One judge scored the 10-round bout at 95-95, while the other two had Bunting winning the contest, 96-94 and 97-93.

Bunting improved to 18-3-1 (17 KOs) the victory. O’ Brien dropped to 18-2-0.

Lightweight Francisco Reyes (8-1-0, 2 KOs) defeated previously unbeaten Robert Vargas (5-1-1) by split decision in the co-main event.

Reyes appeared as the 50-45 and 48-47 winner on two scorecards with Vargas being named as the 48-47 on the other.

Rounding out the undercard, middleweight Eddie Hunter defeated Nate Smith by TKO (1:32; 5th Round); middleweight Nate Serrano beat Roman Wheeler by TKO (2:00, 2nd); welterweight Virgil Green scored a unanimous decision over Nalo Leal (40-36, 40-36, 40-36); and super featherweight Rob Deisel defeated Kendall Ward with a second-round TKO.
