“Taking on Tyson” premieres tonight on the Animal Planet. The reality series follows the controversial former heavyweight boxing champion Iron Mike Tyson as he talks about his love for pigeons, and for the first time in his life he will be competing in pigeon racing.
Tyson said that the first thing he ever loved in his life was a pigeon, and the bird that many people see as dirty birds or common, Tyson sees the beauty in them.
Animal Planet follows Mike Tyson in a six-part docudrama, joining Tyson and helping him out on his quest to race pigeons for the first time are members of Team Tyson, Mario Costa, a lifelong friend of the champ; Vinnie Torre, Tyson’s pigeon Trainer; and the Roman Brothers, the guys who take care of Mike’s pigeons.
Mike Tyson will be competing against younger and more experienced pigeon racers Helder Rodrigues and Joe Green.
