HBO Boxing hit it out of the ballpark when they broadcast a fight between Andre Berto and Vicious Victor Ortiz, the fans who saw the fight live, enjoyed a thrilling high action, fast paced, non stop fight where both combatants exchanged heavy power punches knocking each other down several times and hurting one another all through out their 12-round “Fight of the Year” frontrunner.
At the end of the brutal slug fest Victor Ortiz won the WBC welterweight championship defeating Andre Berto by hard fought decision for the belt and giving Berto his first defeat.
Ortiz redeemed himself from his embarrassing loss to Marcos Maidana when he quit in the fight stating he shouldn’t be taking this type of punishment. Now Victor Ortiz is a player in the welterweight division with the big names like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
