HBO Boxing After Dark will broadcast the Gennady Golovkin (Champ) vs. Grzegorz Proska WBA/IBO middleweight championship and Sergiy Dzinziruk vs. Jonathan Gonzalez bouts live from the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York on September 1st.
The 30-year-old Golovkin (23-0, 20 KOs) of Kazakhstan is a former amateur champion and currently an underfeated professional boxer and champion, in the amateur ranks he held wins over Matvey Korobov, Andre Dirrell, Andy Lee, Lucian Bute, and Yordanis Despaigne. He is considered one of the best middleweights in the world and if he gets passed 27-year-old Polish boxer Grzegorz Proska (28-1, 21 KOs) he could face the winner of Felix Sturm vs. Daniel Geale for a middleweight title unification bout.
Also on the card as the opening for the televised broadcast is a junior middleweight 10-round non title bout between former champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (37-1, 24 KOs) of Ukraine and undefeated Jonathan Gonzalez (15-0, 13 KOs) of Puerto Rico.
