There is only one week left before Canelo Alvarez and Amir Khan head out to Las Vegas for fight week and face off on May 7th at the MGM T Mobile Arena.
The first episode of 24/7: Canelo/Khan gave us a quick glimpse at Amir Khan’s backstory, his early beginnings as an Olympic silver medal boxer for Great Britain, to his run with Freddie Roach, and finally winding up in the Bay Area under the tutelage of trainer Virgil Hunter.
Young Mexican star Canelo was reintroduced to us, this time with the WBC middleweight world championship after his victory over Miguel Cotto. Canelo and Khan both training out of California, must intensify training and taper off slowly to recover. The last stretch of camp is measured so a fighter doesn’t over train or peak too soon, causing him to lose energy in a fight.
