Ricky Hatton Tells Floyd Mayweather jr to back off

December 12, 2008 By NB News 1 Comment

After Pacquiao’s flawless demolition of the Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya, he has taken over the thrown as the most sought after prize in boxing below 147 lb Welterweight. Everyone from Zab Judah,Antonio Margarito and Edwin Valero have been calling the Pacman out. Recently rumors of Floyd Mayweather jr wanting to come out of retirement to fight Manny Pacquiao for a possible Mega Bought in 2009 shaking up the current list of possible Pacquiao opponents headed by the Manchurian Ricky Hatton, who was not a bit pleased by Mayweather jr possibly cutting in line to have his shot at Pacquiao.

Hatton told the UK newspaper The Sun:

Now he’s beaten Oscar De La Hoya, I’d love Manny Pacquiao to come down and fight me.

“He’s the best in the world right now and I’m unbelievably confident a showdown can be arranged.

“I’m not surprised Floyd is considering a return — but I’d be disappointed if he got in ahead of me.

“I’ve put the hard work in and would like to get the chance to take on Manny.

“If I win that fight, then I could strike a deal for a rematch with Mayweather. But that’s some way down the line.”
