Before Kimbo Slice…there was unbeaten Street Fighter Joe Savage

January 2, 2009 By NB News 9 Comments

Unbeaten bare knuckle street fighter from England Joe Savage faced off against pro boxer Bert Cooper. This was Joe Savage’s pro debut turned out to be his first and only pro boxing bout.

Savage was a popular unbeaten local bare-knuckle boxer who was one of the most feared guys on the streets of England.  He held an apparent street fighting record of 41 wins no losses.

When he tried to test himself in the rules of the Marquess of Queensberry rules against a skilled and experienced professional boxer Bert Cooper, he was in for a rude awakening.

Bert Cooper vs Joe Savage took place on 4/22/1994 at the Civic Arena in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.
