Hahaha, that is basically how the Manny Pacquiao – Joshua Clottey fight looked, like Pacquiao punishing a punching bag.
For those of you who saved your money and decided not to order “The Event” on HBO Pay-Per-View, consider yourself blessed, you didn’t miss much.
Bob Arum, once again, put on a horrendous undercard, and the main event was Pacquiao throwing a thousand punches on a guy who was in a fetal position and to scared to throw back.
Clottey is probably bragging that he went 12-hard rounds with the Giant Killer from the Philippines and he didn’t go down, of course you didn’t go down, you didn’t even come out of your cave.
The ref should of deducted a percentage of Clottey’s purse or deducted a point for not fighting. Clottey should be banned from boxing or suspended for that horrible performance on Saturday night.
I felt sad for Clottey before this fight and I was rooting for him, he seemed hungry, he was living in a super tiny apartment in the Bronx, and I was really pulling for this guy.
After Saturday night, I will never pay for another one of his fights again, I don’t even know if Ghana will bother giving him a hero’s welcome after that. It was more embarrassing than Roberto Duran saying “No Mas” in the rematch with Sugar Ray Leonard.
Pacquiao looked amazing, and looked impressive against a guy who didn’t throw back and was a human punching bag.
I saw some flaws in Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. would take advantage of those opportunities and counter Pacquiao, but Pacquiao would probably shake those punches off and keep moving forward, it won’t be an easy fight for either guy.
When Joshua Clottey actually let his hands go, he was able to bust up Pacquiao’s face, but Manny came back with crazy power combos forcing Clottey to lean back and cover up every time.
Pacquiao, you still deliver and I will always order your fights, but Bob Arum, please pair him up with a guy who will actually fight back and not just come there for the pay check.
