On April 30, 2010, WBC Bantamweight champ Hozumi Hasegawa, considered one of the best current Asian boxers today, right underneath, pound-for-pound king, Manny Pacquiao, and undefeated featherweight from Indonesia, Chris John, fought WBO Bantamweight champion, Fernando Montiel, in Japan.
The fight didn’t get coverage in America sports media and both Hasegawa and Montiel are relatively unknown among casual fans, being overshadowed by the Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley fight coming up on Saturday, May 1.
