On Monday June 28, 2010, boxing superstar, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will take oath and be sworn into public office as a congressman in the province of Sarangani, Philippines.
Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, told the Manila Bulletin a few days ago that they would have a resolution on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. megafight within the month.
Maybe the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight was already signed, sealed and delivered, and they are waiting till after Manny Pacquiao gets sworn into office to officially announce it.
There hasn’t been much said between Golden Boy promotions CEO Richard Schaefer or Top Rank’s Bob Arum, so, that’s a positive note.
The first time around both Team Mayweather and Team Pacquiao were releasing different statements to the media on whose fault it was that the fight never came to fruition.
The Mayweather family accused Manny Pacquiao of being on steroids or performance enhancement drugs and demanded Pacquiao submit himself to Olympic USADA random blood tests up to the week of the fight. The Pacquiao side said Floyd Mayweather Jr. wanted to take blood from Pacquiao to weaken him in the fight giving Floyd an unfair advantage in the ring over Pacquiao.
This time around the closest thing we have to any insight on the matter was an interview of Oscar De La Hoya on Spanish TVsaying the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight was nearly a done deal, a statement Oscar later said was taken out of context.
Could the much anticipated Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. superfight be announced sometime next week? I sure hope so but I ain’t getting my hopes up again.

I love watching boxing on Pay-Per-View more than being there live because you can really enjoy and watch the action from the best view.
