The highly publicized UFC 118 “Boxing vs. UFC” match between James Toney and Randy Couture ended fairly quickly.
Toney came in confident but in horrible shape, Couture came in looking lean and ready to go.
Heavyweight boxing champion, James “Lights-Out” Toney, had no shot against Randy Couture’s takedown, once the fight started James Toney got taken down and mounted by the Greco-Roman wrestler and former UFC champion, shortly after Randy got the mount he pounded Toney with a barrage of punches and secured an arm triangle submitting the one dimensional boxing champion.
After the fight Randy Couture showed nothing but respect to the boxing community and the trash talking James Toney. Couture said he loves boxing and hopes more top boxers decide to crossover to MMA.
Toney was showered with boo’s during the post fight interview with Joe Rogan, but said it was Randy’s night, he ain’t a quitter and will be back fighting in UFC or boxing again.
