Manny Pacquiao Is No Bruce Lee, Stop Comparing Them

When people say Manny Pacquiao is the “Bruce Lee of boxing,” I sigh at the comparison.

They are nothing alike and to even put Manny Pacquiao in the same sentence as the greatest Asian martial artist of all time is disrespectful, it’s like saying Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is as great as his father Julio Cesar Chavez.

Manny Pacquiao can’t hold a candle to Master Lee, in a real fight, Bruce Lee would have utterly destroyed Manny with a one inch punch or with his powerful side kick to the stomach, Bruce’s blazing hand and foot speed would put Manny to shame.

The only type of people who praise Manny Pacquiao and put him on the same level as Bruce Lee are the die hard Pacquiao fans that have Manny as the greatest boxer of all time. How can Manny be the greatest of all time when he hasn’t proven himself against all styles of boxing, especially against slick black fighters who can pot shot him all day without getting hit. Bruce Lee fought and trained in so many different styles of fighting while Manny avoids slick boxers and people have the nerve to compare them?

Bruce Lee has been in hundreds of bare knuckle stand up street fights and he tore anyone up who came in his path. Manny Pacquiao got beat up by sub par boxers early in his career, imagine if he ran into a prime Bruce Lee? No match at all, it would be over in 5 minutes or how ever long Bruce would want it to last.

Bruce Lee trained in boxing and had footwork like Muhammad Ali and faster hands than Manny Pacquiao with more punch power behind each shot. In Long Beach, California Bruce Lee unveiled his one inch punch and knocked back a 160 pound man with only an inch of space between his fist and the man’s chest.

As a fan of Bruce Lee, I hope people have more respect for the man and his legacy and not disrespect it by comparing him to a carefully built up fighter like Manny Pacquiao. The only thing Bruce and Manny have in common is their hair style and that’s it. Pacquiao is more like Jackie Chan than Bruce Lee.
