Picking The Underdog Mosley To KO Manny Pacquiao

The reason why I am picking “Sugar” Shane Mosley to knockout Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao on May 7th is because I don’t think Manny’s chin is strong enough to withstand Shane’s punching power.

It all comes down to punch resistance and chin for me. Manny has been dropped by fighters who don’t hit as hard as Mosley and he’s been stopped by knockout before. Shane has never been knocked out and was only hurt once against a prime Vernon Forrest, who is bigger and hits harder than Manny Pacquiao.

Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao are both equal in speed and quickness, but Mosley has the power, size, better defense and the ability to absorb bigger shots. Manny has the upperhand when it comes to stamina and conditioning.

Size makes the difference in a fight when both men are of equal or similar skill. If it comes down to both men slugging it out in the middle of the ring I favor Mosley to come out on top.

People seem to forget that Manny Pacquiao isn’t even a real welterweight. He hasn’t fought a big welterweight with speed and power like Shane Mosley in his previous outings at the weight limit.

Oscar De La Hoya was drained when he fought Manny. Miguel Cotto doesn’t have true one punch power. Joshua Clottey is a big welterweight but he rarely throws punches and for his size he isn’t a heavy hitter either. Antonio Margarito slow and not known for one punch power, was able to hit Manny Pacquiao the most of any other welterweight fighter and even hurt the Filipino champion to the body in round 6.

For Manny to win he needs to some how weather the storm, and get Mosley tired in the early rounds, and box his way to a decision. I don’t think Manny has the skill set or defense to avoid getting hit by a big bomb, Manny will get hit by a legitimate power punching welterweight and when he does, I wouldn’t be surprised if he hits the canvas.

Prediction: Shane Mosley over Manny Pacquiao by knockout.
