If Marquez Loses To Ramos, Pacquiao Will Probably Fight Berto or Williams

Mexican warrior, Juan Manuel Marquez, is having a tune up fight on Saturday night, against an unknown fighter named Likar Ramos, should he lose, or suffer an injury in the fight, his upcoming fight with the media hyped Manny Pacquiao is off the table for November.

If Marquez does lose or get cut and injured in his fight with Ramos, Top Rank will likely replace Juan Manuel Marquez with another cherry picked opponent for Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.

I already have an idea of what type of opponent we will see in the ring with Pacquiao to replace Marquez.

We know that Manny Pacquiao hasn’t faced a dangerous or young fighter coming off a strong win streak, so Timothy Bradley and Sergio Martinez are off of that list.

The most likely opponents for Manny Pacquiao are Andre Berto or Paul Williams.

Both Berto and Williams are coming off bad performances so they fit the criteria. Andre Berto fought a war with Victor Ortiz and lost his WBC welterweight belt, and Paul Williams who received a gift decision over Erislandy Lara, a fight that I and many others felt Lara clearly won.

These are the type of opponents that Top Rank matches Manny Pacquiao up with, guys coming off losses or guys who are no longer the same or as dangerous as they once were.

If Andre Berto gets the fight with Manny Pacquiao, Top Rank will use the angle that Berto wasn’t 100 percent in condition when he went toe to toe with Floyd Mayweather’s next opponent Victor Ortiz and he lost a close decision. They will also mention that Berto and Williams are both slick young black fighters, even though, Berto and Williams aren’t really slick at all. Berto is just fast with power, and Williams is a swarming pressure fighter with no defense.

Paul Williams was once considered too tall and too big for Manny Pacquiao, but after his KO loss to Sergio Martinez and his horrible performance against Erislandy Lara, he will probably become a frontrunner for the Pacquiao sweepstakes. When Paul Williams and his trainer said they don’t need to change their style at all, Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach will probably want Pacquiao to fight him next because they feast on aggressive fighters with no defense. Shane Mosley got the Pacquiao fight just by losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and drawing with Sergio Mora. All you have to do is look vulnerable and Top Rank will move you to the top of the list.

Paul Williams probably knows his performance against Lara will land him closer to a Pacquiao fight, and secure him a huge multimillion dollar payday before he retires.

I can already see the promotions now for a Pacquiao vs. Williams match up, they will show clips of Paul Williams defeating Antonio Margarito, and refer to him as one of the most avoided fighters in the welterweight division, they will also show Williams first fight with Sergio Martinez, and his knockout win over Carlos Quintana to make him look like a beast. They will work off of the Antonio Margarito fight angle and have Paul Williams say, “My win over Margarito was more impressive than Pacquiao’s because I fought Antonio Margarito before he was caught with those loaded handwraps and I beat him in his prime,.” The fight will be billed as “DAVID vs. GOLIATH”, Pacquiao faces his biggest and toughest test in the 6 foot 2 inch Paul Williams and the casual fans will gobble it up.
