IBF 168-pound champion Lucian Bute (28-0, 23 KOs) returns home to Romania on Saturday July 9, to defend his title against France’s Jean-Paul Mendy (29-0-1, 16 KOs) at the Romexpo Arena in Bucharest, Romania.
Bute is arguably the best super middleweight in the world, and is looking to face the winner of the Carl Froch vs. Andre Ward fight, the winner of Froch vs. Ward would be crowned the Showtime Super Six World Boxing Classic winner and would set up a 168-pound super-fight unification bout with Bute should he defeat Mendy tonight.
