Why Do The Fans Think The Mayweather-Ortiz Fight Was Fixed?

The old adage in boxing is true “Protect yourself at all times”. And watching the bout and then the replay of the bout, things are crystal clear.

Fast forward to the 4th round, Victor Ortiz head-butt Floyd Mayweather, the ref breaks the fighters and calls timeout, Ortiz tried to make amends to Floyd, after deducting a point from Ortiz, referee Joe Cortez signaled and declared “let’s go” and the rest is history.

Why do the fans think the fight was FIXED?

First, while ref Cortez was still dealing with the timekeeper at ringside why will Cortez signal the fight to resume and not look at the fighters? I don’t remember Cortez ever doing that before and with his championship experience it’s really fishy. He’s such a bad actor.

Secondly, this is the kicker, after the ref signaled the fight to resume and Ortiz offered one last apology (another hug fest), at that point this is where “protect yourself at all times” applies, Floyd could have punched Ortiz right there with his guards down because the fight was back on already. But instead, Floyd allowed Ortiz one last conciliatory gesture, hugged Ortiz and bam! That’s a sucker people.

Third, why’d Ortiz look so happy after being counted out instead of protesting? For a boxer who was sucker punched, the boxer and his corner must be screaming for DQ (Disqualification) and yet the whole team acted the opposite and eagerly asked for a rematch.

Fourth, why was Floyd so eager to give his recently vanquished opponent a rematch? Really? He fought only one boxer twice. He fought Jose Luis Castillo twice because he knew that in their first fight he looked so bad that many people believed he lost that one. His unofficial first lost.

And lastly, why all of the sudden, all the videos of the fight or portions of it on YouTube and other websites were either blocked or removed? Are GBP (Golden Boy Promotions) and Mayweather Promotions are afraid the fans would see and study the replays and find out the obvious?

This fight was intended for a rematch for one purpose only, for Floyd Mayweather to bide his time to duck the Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao at all costs. After the rematch, what do you think Floyd will do? Of course, go on vacation and duck Manny Pacquiao until Pacquiao retires in 2013.

I could be completely wrong about my observations. I am just an ordinary fan, and in no way really know how I would react if I were one of the fighters involved but the ensuing actions, reactions, comments and the “protect yourself at all times” as if, were scripted beforehand.

They used to call him Floyd, now he will be known as “FIXED” Mayweather.
