Numbers Don’t Lie: Pacquiao Will Never Surpass Mayweather’s PPV Buys

A lot of the Floyd Mayweather haters were making up lies saying the “Star Power” Pay-Per-View failed to break a million PPV buys. They were saying nobody wanted to pay to watch Floyd fight Victor Ortiz and that Floyd’s drawing power was overrated because they were withholding the actual numbers.

Like I always tell people who try to downplay Floyd Mayweather and big up Manny Pacquiao — Floyd Mayweather supporters will always have the last laugh. Golden Boy Promotions just released official Pay-Per-View numbers for Mayweather vs. Ortiz and the numbers they announced on Friday were 1.25 million buys and $78.44 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue — well above the 850,000 PPV buys that was rumored.

What makes this even funnier is how the Manny Pacquiao fanboys try their hardest to hate on Floyd and start lies to ruin his image. They were so confident that Mayweather-Ortiz would fail and now they have to eat crow as always every time Floyd “Money” Mayweather proves them wrong. Haven’t these Pacquiao fans learned? Every time you go against Floyd he always proves you wrong and makes you look stupid.

So you want to talk about withholding PPV buys? Where are the official numbers for Manny Pacquiao vs. Sugar Shane Mosley? How come Bob Arum hasn’t released any official statement with actual proof that Pacquiao vs. Mosley did over 1 million buys? At least with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions they release official numbers all the time — even when the show is a complete failure like the recent Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson PPV that only did 40,000 buys. I wouldn’t be surprised if Top Rank withholds the Pay-Per-View numbers for the upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight.

Face it, Manny Pacquiao will never outdo Floyd Mayweather Jr. when it comes to Pay-Per-View buys and ratings. They don’t call Floyd “Money” Mayweather for nothing. Like Floyd always says, “Numbers don’t lie, people do.”
