Bob Arum: The “Little Fella” Mayweather Wants Isn’t Pacquiao, It’s Morales

November 6, 2011 By NB News 31 Comments

Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, was at the Santa Anita Park horse racing tracks on Saturday hosting an open workout for Juan Manuel Marquez and undefeated light welterweight champ Tim Bradley who fights on the undercard of Pacquiao vs. Marquez against Joel Casamayor. As the fighters worked out, the media fielded questions to the Top Rank boss about Floyd Mayweather’s announcement that he’ll be coming back to fight the “little fella” supposedly Manny Pacquiao on May 5, 2012 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,  Arum was quick to point out that Mayweather isn’t interested in fighting Manny and Floyd is trying to draw attention to himself before Manny Pacquiao’s fight like he’s done in the past. Arum also revealed to the media that the “little fella”  Floyd is really eying is former Pacquiao foe Erik Morales.

“They (Team Mayweather) want May 5 because they are fighting (Erik) Morales,” Arum told the media during Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley’s open workout at Santa Anita Park.

“Erik Morales will confirm it,” Said Arum on whether or not Erik Morales was approached by Floyd Mayweather’s team for a possible May 5, 2012 fight on Cinco De Mayo.

Bob Arum also said that Floyd Mayweather Jr. repeating the same line “Take the test and we have a fight,” is getting old because it’s already a non issue since Manny Pacquiao has already agreed to the testing.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez III takes place on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and broadcast live on HBO Pay-Per-View.
