Vic Darchinyan Says He Will Move From Boxing To MMA

December 2, 2011 By NB News Leave a Comment

According to promoter Gary Shaw, Vic Darchinyan will try his hand in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts after his fight with WBA bantamweight world champion Anselmo Moreno on Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Shaw who also promotes Kimbo Slice a former street brawler turned UFC/MMA fighter and now current professional heavyweight boxer, said should Darchinyan beat Anselmo Moreno for his belt that he will probably retire from boxing and go into MMA. Vic on the other hand said he isn’t going to retire from boxing but he will like to fight both MMA and Boxing in 2012.

Darchinyan is known for his serious trash talk and confidence leading up to his fights and he is serious about fighting in MMA. Vic’s father was a top wrestler in Armenia and Vic believes his wrestling is good enough to help him transition over to MMA.

Watch Vic Darchinyan fight WBA 118-pound champion Anselmo Moreno on the undercard of the IBF bantamweight Championship rematch Abner Mares vs Joseph Agbeko on Saturday, December 3, 9 PM ET/PT on Showtime.
