HBO Boxing After Dark heads back to St. Louis, Missouri for another double header featuring a welterweight main event with hometown favorite Devon Alexander vs. hard hitting Argentinian boxer Marcos Maidana, and opening the HBO telecast is a super featherweight title fight between two young undefeated fighters, champion 22-year-old Adrien “The Problem” Broner and 25-year-old Eloy Perez.
Former 140-pound champion Devon Alexander (22-1, 13KO) is moving up in weight to the welterweight division and his opponent Marcos Maidana (31-2, 28KO) a former 140-pound champion is making his debut at 147-pounds. Both fighters will answer some questions on Saturday night, will not having to cut much weight help their performance? Will Devon Alexander be able to keep his speed? And will the power punching Maidana be able to retain his punching power? It will be interesting to see which one will come out victorious and make a statement and if either one can follow the footsteps of welterweight pound-for-pound greats Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
In the co-feature bout undefeated WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (22-0, 18KO) will put his WBO belt on the line against fellow undefeated fighter Eloy Perez (23-0-2, 7KO) and someones O has to go. Eloy Perez doesn’t have a high KO percentage but predicted that he will stop Adrien Broner in this fight. Broner plans on putting on an impressive performance and likens himself to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
