Showtime Championship Boxing presents a WBC Super Bantamweight World Championship fight live from the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas , Abner Mares versus Eric Morel on Saturday April 21st.
Abner Mares (23-0-1, 13 KOs) is the 27-year-old undefeated former Bantamweight champion and is moving up to 122-pounds to fight for the vacant WBC Super Bantamweight belt, he will have no easy task because the man who is also fighting for the vacant belt is 37-year-old veteran Eric Morel of Puerto Rico (46-2, 23 KOs).
The 122-pound division is nothing new to Mares since he started his professional boxing career as a Super Bantamweight before dropping down to 118-pounds for a title shot. If Mares wins against Eric Morel he will become a two division champion and winning a title at 122-pounds would make people clamor for a big fight showdown between Abner Mares and WBO Super Bantamweight title holder Nonito Donaire.
Anselmo Moreno vs. David De La Mora will be televised as the co-feature before the WBC Super Bantamweight Championship main event Mares vs. Morel.
