Shane Mosley Will Expose Canelo Alvarez On Cinco De Mayo

I’ve never been sold on the 21-year-old ginger haired Mexican boxing champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, the guy doesn’t impress me much. He is flat footed and throws basic slow combination punches with his chin up. Canelo hasn’t fought anyone in their prime and was given a WBC junior middleweight belt fighting Ricky Hatton’s brother Matthew.

I also remember Canelo getting rocked bad by Miguel Cotto’s brother Jose a blown up featherweight. This guy Canelo is really getting hyped up by Oscar De La Hoya and the WBC, but he is fighting nothing but old washed up fighters or against weak competition. He is being built up the Manny Pacquiao way with cherry picked opponents to make him look good. Pacquiao has fought mainly washed up and drained fighters, Canelo doesn’t drain his opponents yet, but he is fighting mismatches and against washed up fighters and Golden Boy chose Sugar Shane Mosley for that very reason they think he is a safe opponent because of his poor performancs against Floyd Mayweather Jr., Sergio Mora, and Manny Pacquiao and a big name for Canelo to look good against and add to his record.

The one thing Golden Boy promotions forgot was that Shane Mosley has never lost to a Mexican fighter and Canelo Alvarez fights like the typical Mexican fighter slow, plodding and basic. Some of you reading this will bring up the Mora fight but Sergio Mora is not a typical Mexican style fighter, he is a runner who likes to grab you after he hits you, that is why Mosley had trouble in that fight and walked away with a draw, although, I thought he won that fight.

What you will see is a Sugar Shane Mosley digging Canelo to the body, hitting him up top, and clinching him and wearing him down. Canelo doesn’t know how to fight on the inside and he rarely ever ties up, this is how Mosley beat up Antonio Margarito by roughing him up and making it a dirty fight on the inside, clinching and hitting and wearing down Margarito.

I don’t know if Mosley has enough in the tank to pull off a knockout win over Canelo, but I do believe that Mosley will do enough to expose Canelo and give him a tough fight on the Mayweather vs. Cotto undercard, I am going out there with my prediction but I think Mosley will win the fight by TKO, Canelo won’t get knocked out cold but either the referee, doctor, or Canelo’s corner will stop the fight from accumulation of punishment. If it goes the distance they will give it to the Mexican on Cinco de Mayo, and we could see another robbery like Pacquiao vs. Marquez III.
