Trainer Freddie Roach and strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza are on good working terms again after Roach voiced his opinion of having the strength trainer fired after he left camp abruptly for Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan in the Philippines to help kick start Chavez Jr.’s weight loss regimen. Chavez and his team open up camp in Las Vegas for fight week. Sergio Martinez was able to put death threat distractions beside him and keep himself focused on the task at hand, winning back the WBC middleweight title and defeating the popular Mexican star to solidify himself as one of the best pound for pound boxers of this generation.
