On December 22, 2012 boxing returns to NBC with a rematch between former cruiserweight champions Tomasz Adamek (47-2, 29 KOs) of Poland and Steve Cunningham (25-4, 12 KOs) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and a co-feature heavyweight bout Tor Hamer (19-1, 12 KO’s) of New York vs. Vyacheslav Glazkov (13-0, 9 KO’s) of Ukraine, the event will take place at Sands Casino Resort, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Adamek and Cunningham first met in the ring on December 2008 in a championship bout that was for the IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight belts, the fight was one of the most exciting bouts of the year and had back and forth action from beginning to end. Cunningham was down in the 2nd, 4th, and 8th rounds of the bout but came back from each knockdown showing heart and trying to fight back as best he could using his jab effectively to try and keep Adamek at bay. Adamek won the fight by split decision and went on to fight in the heavyweight division. Cunningham has now followed the footsteps of Adamek and vacated the cruiserweight division to go up and make a run at heavyweight.
The opening bout on NBC will be an 8-round non-title heavyweight bout between American Tor Hamer against undefeated Ukrainian heavyweight Vyacheslav Glazkov.
