FRAMPTON FAVOURITE AHEAD OF MARTINEZ CLASH

February 8, 2013 By NB News

CARL FRAMPTON looks set to snatch the European super bantamweight title away from Kiko Martinez on Saturday night, according to the betting on Betfair. The fight had been made on two previous occasions, only for Martinez to pull out through injury both times. And now Frampton finally heads into battle the big odds-on favourite to win at 1-5.

Reigning 118lb champ Martinez has been spouting off ahead of the fight and predicting a stoppage win against the Belfast star. However, despite having more fights under his belt than Frampton, odds of 9-2 suggest that Martinez will come up short in his bid for glory.

Fighting in front of a home crowd, Frampton is a 6-5 shot for victory by way of knockout, while he can be backed at 11-8 to triumph courtesy of the judges’ decision. Martinez is a 6-1 chance to win by KO and is 11-1 to land the judges’ decision.

Betfair’s Alex Bake said: “Frampton has improved with every fight he’s had and looks close to being the finished article. Martinez has said that Frampton’s not strong enough, but on Saturday night we’ll see just how hard the Belfast Banger is.”

Frampton v Martinez – Betfair bet: 1-5 Frampton, 9-2 Martinez, 28-1 the draw

Method of victory – Betfair bet: 6-5 Frampton KO, 11-8 Frampton decision, 6-1 Martinez KO, 11-1 Martinez decision
