The Ultimate Fighting Championship presents UFC on FOX 7: Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez for the UFC lightweight championship, the event takes place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, on April 20, 2013 and will be broadcast live on FOX.
The main event features a lightweight showdown between two champions, the current UFC 155 pound champ Benson Henderson will put his title on the line against the Strikeforce lightweight champion and UFC newcomer Gilbert Melendez.
The co-main event of the evening is a bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir against undefeated Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier who will also be making his UFC debut.
Two California bay area favorites Nate Diaz and Josh Thomson will go toe to toe in a lightweight showdown, this will be Thomson’s return to the UFC Octagon his last fight in the UFC was in 2004 at UFC 49, he lost by head kick to Yves Edwards.
The opening bout for UFC on FOX 7 will be Matt Brown versus Jordan Mein two hard hitting, entertaining welterweights, sure to bring fireworks to the broadcast.
