WHO IS SAUL CANELO ALVAREZ AND WHY IS FLOYD MAYWEATHER FIGHTING HIM

Please tell me who has Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fought worth anything. The biggest name in his resume is Sugar Shane Mosley. Mosley was totally washed up by the time he fought Canelo. And Saul could not even muster to knock down his opponent who could be old enough to be his father. So that fight is not worth mentioning. Then he fought a very average fighter with a belt, Austin Trout. And what is Trout’s claim to fame? He beat a worn and washed up Miguel Cotto. Those two opponents are the most significant opponents that Canelo has fought.

With Floyd Mayweather Jr., it’s the same old, same old. Floyd finds a nobody who has gathered a little momentum and then builds him up as a very dangerous and viable opponent. That’s what it was with Floyd’s last opponent, Robert “Ghost” Guerrero. Robert beat an over hyped Andre Berto prior to his fight with Mayweather. That win gathered a little momentum and then Floyd cherry picked Guerrero.

Let’s take a look at Canelo’s last six opponents. See if you heard of them, or has any of them done anything worth mentioning in the last two years. Here they are in chronological order: Matthew Hatton, Ryan Rhodes, Alfonso Gomez, Kermit Cintron, Shane Mosley, Josesito Lopez, and his last opponent, Austin Trout. Canelo has made his name with those kind of fighters as his opponent.

Seems to me that Canelo is a nobody with a paper title. He is over hyped and promoted as the next great fighter from Mexico. I don’t see anyone on that list, or as a group that elevates Canelo to his current media darling status.

Here we go again. Let the bull crap begin. Canelo will be sold as a great and very dangerous opponent for Mayweather. Nothing could be further from the truth. Canelo is slow footed. The bigger he comes in at fight time against Mayweather, the more he will look bad, real bad. He will be pot shotted like no other.

Before the Mayweather fan boys and boxing pundits praise how great Mayweather was in how easily he handled Canelo, I will tell you what the truth is. Canelo is too green and very slow footed with bad stamina. Mayweather will run and pot shot the cinnamon turtle to death. If Guerrero could not corner Mayweather, what makes you think that the much slower and less mobile Canelo will be able to.

Let’s put it all together. Canelo has not beaten anybody, he is slow footed, he is not mobile, has poor stamina, and he is over hyped. Here is a given, Mayweather will be on his bicycle. He will surely pot shot and fight Canelo from way outside. It’s another cherry for Mayweather to pick.

But you will hear otherwise from the boxing experts, pundits, and the almost always wrong, Teddy Atlas. Canelo will be revered, he will be called dangerous, and credit will be given to Mayweather for taking such a dangerous fighter. BULL CRAP!

Let me ask everyone this. Does Canelo have the kind of physical mobility and quickness to corner Mayweather? And in what fight did he show that ability. Canelo does his best fighting when he is planted, not chasing around his opponent. Like I said, Saul Canelo Alvarez who?

If Saul Alvarez comes close to beating Mayweather, I will stop writing. If it’s a boring fight and Canelo will look like what he really is, an over hype paper tiger, my detractors have to praise me. Get ready for the full force bull crap from the promoters and media, and then get ready to be totally disappointed during and after the fight.
