Pacquiao asking for drug testing is worser than Mayweather’s catchweight

June 27, 2013 By Lou Block Leave a Comment

Some haters are claiming that Floyd Mayweather is a hypocrite for asking a catchweight against Canelo Alvarez but in my opinion Manny Pacquiao is a bigger hypocrite for demanding random drug testing for his fight against Brandon Rios after rejecting it for many years.

Unless you were living in a cave the past couple of years, everyone who follows boxing knows Manny Pacquiao’s fear of needles and avoidance of doing the Olympic style random blood and urine drug testing is what caused the super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to go down the drain. Pacquiao rejected the random testing and wanted cut off dates,  all Floyd wanted was for the fight to be on an even playing field to give the fans a fair fight. All of a sudden when Pacquiao got knocked out cold by Juan Manuel Marquez his tune changed and now he wants random drug testing. That’s funny, just because he got put to sleep by a guy who beat him 3 times before he suspects him of cheating? Maybe it’s because Marquez was and will always be the much better fighter that’s why Manny got knocked out.

People should be getting on Pacquiao’s head about the drug testing demands for his fight with Brandon Rios, instead, the haters are claiming Floyd is a hypocrite for negotiating a catchweight for his fight with Canelo Alvarez in September. I don’t see any hypocrisy here, Floyd called Manny out for his catchweights because when he requested catchweights they were specifically meant to drain Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, and he forced Juan Manuel Marquez to come up in weight hoping he would be slower. Floyd is trying to make it a fair fight since Canelo is a huge 154 pounder who probably walks around well over 175 pounds. This catchweight is justified because of how much bigger Canelo is than Mayweather, Canelo should actually be fighting at 168 pounds not 154, so a catchweight of 152 is necessary here. Pacquiao’s catchweights are a lot worse because the word is team Pacquiao requests a rehydration clause so fighters are not only forced to drain to a catchweight but not allowed to put on weight on fight night.

If I were a Pacquiao fan I would be mad at him for destroying and killing the fight that everyone wanted to see over drug testing and now after years of never doing the random blood and urine testing that could have made the fight happen, he decides to start doing it. A little to late…actually way too late, should have done years ago. I hope people realize now that Floyd was always trying to clean up the sport. He also wants to  make the biggest and best fights happen, Manny had his chance and passed it up because of his ego and now he is irrelevant to the sport after he got knocked out cold, nobody wants to see him fight anymore since getting exposed by Marquez and Tim Bradley. Floyd is now moving on to greener pastures and he is facing Canelo Alvarez the fighter the fans wanted to see him fight next and a tougher challenge than Manny Pacquiao would ever be for Floyd.

Floyd is the peoples champ and the cash cow, enjoy this legend while you can.
