Mayweather won’t fight Pacquiao even if he beats Rios

July 2, 2013 By Charlie Knoxville 1 Comment

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is at it again, using Manny Pacquiao’s name to help sell his upcoming fight with Canelo Alvarez. He claimed Manny’s career was already over, to make himself look like the greatest ever, yet he still won’t fight a washed up shot version of the Pacman for what would still be his biggest payday. Since Floyd’s last pay-per-view with Robert Guerrero supposedly bombed at the box office and couldn’t break even, he was forced to fight Canelo Alvarez a young strong fighter, but he opted to make him weak and fight him at a catchweight of 152 pounds knowing full well that Canelo already has trouble making the 154 pound Jr. Middleweight limit and has stamina issues. This maneuver shows that Floyd is a true hypocrite, he called Manny Pacquiao a catchweight king and discredited his win over Miguel Cotto because he claimed Pacman drained him while he on the other hand likes to fight fighters at their best weight. I guess a shot Miguel Cotto and Oscar De La Hoya are okay to fight at their best weight but not a young strong bull like Canelo.

The truth here is Floyd wants to weaken and drain Canelo, it came out of his own mouth, he said Pacquiao likes to drain opponents well Floyd is basically doing what he claimed Pacquiao is doing. Floyd was forced to fight Canelo, even though I feel Canelo has really no shot against Floyd, he still has a heavy punch and that is what made Floyd hesitant to fight him at his full weight. Floyd needs to go into a fight with 100 percent confidence that his opponent has no shot, he analyzes the situation and cherry picks the opponent either at the right time, or studies if the style will give him trouble or not. Canelo is flat footed and stylistically plays into Floyd’s hands because he lacks movement and doesn’t pressure fight. The only threat that Canelo had was punching power, he doesn’t pressure fight because he lacks stamina from having difficulty making 154 pounds. When Floyd fights Canelo, you will see how tired Canelo will get and he will just pot shot him and move on his way to a wide unanimous decision.

The style of fighter that gives Mayweather trouble is someone who is hard to time and moves a lot with a lot of pressure. When Floyd cherry picked a shot Miguel Cotto it kinda backfired on him because he never thought Cotto would give him that much trouble or hit him that hard. During the fight Floyd was getting hit a lot he tried to finish off a shot Cotto but couldn’t and when Cotto starting moving around a bit and popping his left jab, Floyd couldn’t time him well. That shows you another reason why he didn’t want to fight Manny Pacquiao because stylistically Pacquiao would give him nightmares from all the movement and pressure and stamina that he brought to the ring.

People need to realize the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight was already dead the moment Floyd requested the drug testing protocol, even if Manny agreed to it he would come up with another roadblock like the money split.  If Manny Pacquiao destroys Brandon Rios and looks like a beast again, there is no way Floyd will fight him. Either way Floyd will not fight him, if Pacquiao gets knocked out again he is done for good and Floyd will just continue boasting himself up saying “You see Pacquiao was never on my level he is done and would never beat me,” or if Pacquiao has an amazing performance against Brandon Rios,  Floyd will avoid him again because he would still be a threat to his undefeated record.

I am an avid fan of boxing and video games. My first fight of memory was watching Prince Naseem Hamed destroy Kevin Kelly. I enjoy all aspects of the sport. My favorite current boxer is Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. My favorite boxing match is Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo 1. I love watching boxing on Pay-Per-View more than being there live because you can really enjoy and watch the action from the best view.
