Mayweather-Canelo Judge CJ Ross Sticks To Her Controversial Decision

September 15, 2013 By NB News Leave a Comment

The controversial 114-114 scorecard on Saturday nights Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez fight belonged to female Nevada state boxing judge CJ Ross who most notably was also one of the judges to score the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley fight in favor of Bradley which was considered one of the worst boxing decisions in recent years.

Ross spoke with TMZ after the fight and said she stands behind her controversial decision of scoring the Mayweather-Canelo fight a draw. Ross also stood by her decision when she had Bradley winning the fight against Pacquiao.

Many fans in attendance, sports writers, pay-per-view buyers, and even Canelo Alvarez and his team all said that Mayweather won convincingly. This is just another bad spot in boxing and the judging like this needs to be cleaned up, unfortunately Manny Pacquiao was dealt the short end of the stick because he lost a fight that he clearly won against Bradley because two boxing judges including CJ Ross gave it to the other fighter. Floyd was lucky he wasn’t robbed and still won the fight despite the 114-114 scorecard.

The downside is boxing judges can get away with horrible scoring because they can use the subjective reasoning for their scoring, some judges favor activity, some favor defense and countering, but in this case some judges need glasses.
