Joe Frazier Statue Approved

Legendary boxing heavyweight champion and one of the bravest lions to ever laced a pair of gloves Smoking Joe Frazier will be honored by Philadelphia with a statue.

It was reported by nbcphiladelphia.com and also several sources that the Philadelphia Art Commission finally approved the design of the statue of Frazier which design was done by Philadelphian sculptor Stephen Layne depicting Smoking Joe landing his big left hook when he knocked down Muhammad Ali.

Joe Frazier was an outstanding human being. He had fiery trilogy against Muhammad Ali that ended with the epic Thrilla in Manila, but he is also remembered for his gold medal in the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. He ended his professional career with a record of W32 (27)-L4-D1. After retiring from boxing he became involved in music and also as a trainer in his own gym in his home town.

Undoubtedly we the fans of Smoking Joe will be glad to hear this news and will look forward to the date when the statue will be officially unveiled.
