Floyd Mayweather takes on tailor-made Marcos Maidana in next fight

February 27, 2014 By Charlie Knoxville Leave a Comment

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has made a career of hyping himself up as “The Best Ever”, but how can one be the best when they don’t fight the best?

Marcos Maidana is one tough Argentine slugger, but he is a flat footed fighter with slow punches, the only threat to Mayweather is his punching power because if you take that away he is pretty much tailor-made for Floyd.

We all know that Floyd is going to fight Amir Khan in September after he outpoints Maidana in an extremely boring and cautious fight. Khan won his poll when he asked the fans to vote for his next opponent between Khan and Maidana. Floyd wanted people to believe he is ducking Khan so he can fight him in September and tell the fans that they were wrong about him and whine about how fans are never satisfied who he fights. This is all a set up concocted by Mayweather at his home, he thinks these things through for days and even hours and makes the fight that makes the most sense to him. Floyd wants to take on the easiest opponents to honor his multi-fight contract on Showtime/CBS that is why he avoids threats like Manny Pacquiao.

Floyd never fought Manny Pacquiao and still doesn’t want to fight him because he will have difficulty timing his movement. Floyd needs a tailor-made, flat footed fighter to make him look good.  Pacquiao in his prime was a terror because he had handspeed, foot speed, and the intangibles like ferocity and a gas tank that let him throw multiple power punch combos from all angles every single round without getting tired and to top it off he was a southpaw.

Back to Maidana, his only shot is to land a big shot, the chopping overhand right, if he can’t land that a few times and wobble Floyd he won’t have a chance. This was his most successful punch when he fought and beat Adrien Broner aka the poor mans Floyd Mayweather.  Maidana pretty much has no chance other than a punchers chance which is slim to none. I’d rather pay to watch Sergio Martinez vs. Miguel Cotto or Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley II, than watch Floyd in another glorified sparring session.

Until he fights a real threat who can really put his skills to the test like Erislandy Lara, the Pacquiao vs. Bradley winner, the Cotto vs. Martinez winner, or “GGG” Gennady Golovkin, I will not order a single Mayweather fight again. If slow flat footed Maidana somehow beats Floyd, his “TBE” monicker will go down the drain and he will be long forgotten by his fake bandwagon fans.

I am an avid fan of boxing and video games. My first fight of memory was watching Prince Naseem Hamed destroy Kevin Kelly. I enjoy all aspects of the sport. My favorite current boxer is Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. My favorite boxing match is Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo 1. I love watching boxing on Pay-Per-View more than being there live because you can really enjoy and watch the action from the best view.
