Junior welterweight world champion Danny Garcia and his father Angel Garcia are proud of the Puerto Rican blood that flows through their veins, and they are proud to fight on the island to defend the championship belt against challenger Mauricio Herrera on March 15. Heavyweight KO artist Deontay Wilder will face Malik Scott on the undercard.
Showtime championship boxing will broadcast the event live from the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. This will be Garcia’s first time fighting in Puerto Rico and he will be in against a very durable boxer in Mauricio Herrera who has a win over current WBO junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov and uses his underdog status to help motivate him in big fights.
Also on the broadcast is 28-year-old undefeated US Olympic bronze medalist heavyweight Deontay Wilder going against the slick Philly boxer Malik Scott. The 12-round WBC Final Heavyweight eliminator will be the opener for the television broadcast. Wilder and Scott are good friends but will put their friendship aside as they face each other on Saturday night. Wilder is a knockout artist while Scott is a slick and crafty boxer.
