Manny Pacquiao put his WBO welterweight belt on the line Saturday night against Chris Algieri as part of an HBO Pay-Per-View live from the Venetian Macao.
It was a sold out arena in Macao, China, and it was the legendary Filipino boxing icon’s second appearance in the gambling hub of Asia. His first time there he out boxed Brandon Rios and this time he faced Long Island native Chris Algieri who was dubbed the real life Rocky for his upset victory of Ruslan Provodnikov.
The event was promoted by Top Rank and Star Boxing, the commentary team for HBO was Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman, Roy Jones Jr and Harold Lederman.
The Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri fight will be rebroadcast on November 29 as part of the live HBO boxing card from Omaha, Nebraska featuring WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford versus former Manny Pacquiao sparring partner Ray Beltran and IBF featherweight Evgeny Gradovich versus Jayson Velez.
