Sergey Kovalev is the most exciting light heavyweight boxer in the world and he returns to HBO to defend his world titles against Jean Pascal on March 14 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Kovalev is unbeaten and he packs a punch having finished 23 of his 27 fights by knockout. He is also coming off a career defining victory over the crafty legend Bernard Hopkins, he is the only fighter to beat Hopkins by such a wide margin. Tonight at the Bell Centre in Montreal, he will defend his belts against the hometown guy Jean Pascal.
Pascal, (29-2-1, 17 KOs) has fought the best from Bernard Hopkins, Carl Froch, Chad Dawson, and Lucian Bute. He is trained by future hall of famer Roy Jones Jr, and working with a new strength and conditioning coach Memo Heredia, who is best known for transforming Juan Manuel Marquez into a power punching veteran, with a devastating signature one punch KO over the great Manny Pacquiao.
Kovalev vs. Pascal is an interesting style match up because Pascal presents a lot of speed and movement, and Kovalev possess game changing power and can stop a fight at anytime with a single blow.
Also on the broadcast will be Steve Cunningham making his HBO debut. Cunningham an American former cruiserweight champion, will be fighting at heavyweight against unbeaten Ukrainian slugger Vyacheslav Glazkov.
Opening the night will be undefeated Russian light heavyweight prospect Vasily Lepikhin facing the tough Isaac Chilemba of Malawi.
