The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on April 18 for UFC Fight Night (UFC on FOX 15): Lyoto Machida vs. Luke Rockhold.
Machida is a former light heavyweight champion now campaigning at middleweight, he put up a good fight against current 185 pound champion Chris Weidman but lost the decision. Rockhold is a top middleweight contender with his only defeat in the UFC coming by way of knockout to Vitor Belfort in his octagon debut, since then he stopped Costas Philippou, Tim Boetsch, and Michael Bisping.
The co-main event for UFC on FOX 15 will be a rematch between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Chris Camozzi, Jacare won the first bout by submission at UFC on FX 8. Jacare was originally supposed to face Yoel Romero but his opponent pulled out of the fight due to a knee injury on April 10, Camozzi offered to fill in with only a weeks notice and little time for preparation.
Hawaiian fighter Max Holloway and California native Cub Swanson are two of the elite featherweights in the world, both guys favor keeping the fight standing making this bout a possible fight of the night winner.
Female MMA and kickboxing veteran Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig wants to test the young up and coming strawweight fighter Paige VanZant. Herrig has the experience over VanZant and feels it will give her the edge in the fight, but VanZant has extreme confidence in her talent and believes it’s her time to shine.
