Jessie Vargas To Be Trained By Mexican Legend Erik Morales

May 29, 2015 By NB News

Unbeaten champion Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) of Las Vegas, Nevada replaced his former trainer boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. with another legend in former four division world champion out of Mexican Erik “El Terrible” Morales.

Vargas was originally trained by Roy Jones Jr., but had to switch trainers because of Roy’s busy schedule. So he decided to ask one of his favorite fighters growing up to see if he would come to Las Vegas and help prepare him for his upcoming WBO welterweight championship bout against Timothy Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) in June. The Mexican icon agreed to train Vargas.

Morales who is remembered for his trilogies with Marco Antonio Barrera and Manny Pacquiao, believes Vargas is the best fighter he has trained yet, and is confident he will help the Las Vegas fighter defeat Tim Bradley and become the new WBO welterweight champion.

Tim Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas will be held at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, on June 27 and will be televised on HBO World Championship Boxing.
