Before Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez faces off against British boxing star Amir Khan on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the two global sports figures will come face to face with Max Kellerman on HBO’s Face Off.
Canelo captured the WBC middleweight title against then Puerto Rican champion Miguel Cotto, for his first defense he will face Amir Khan who started his pro boxing career as a lightweight and campaigns at 147 pound welterweight limit, the two will meet at a catchweight of 155 pounds, this is Khan’s first fight at middleweight.
The fight is a David vs. Goliath type fight, similar to Manny Pacquiao vs. Oscar De La Hoya, but unlike that fight, Canelo is younger, and fresher than Oscar when Pacquiao fought him, and Amir Khan is a lot taller than Pacquiao. When Canelo vs. Khan was first announced many thought it was a joke fight, but Khan believes he will pull off the upset in May and prove the doubters having the last laugh.
Many questions will be answered on May 7, will Canelo run through Khan and knock him out early, or will Khan fight the perfect fight and box Canelo to a decision victory?
