Gennady Golovkin’s Next Opponent?

Gennady Golovkin is now the WBC middleweight champion after being the interim champion since 2014. Now Canelo Alvarez and Golden Boy Promotions have vacated the belt, and no real guarantee that Canelo will fight at Middleweight. Not to mention a lengthy court case that has started with All-Star boxing accusing Golden Boy of stealing Canelo.

So who’s next in line to try and dethrone triple G?

Miguel Cotto 40 – 5

Cotto does not need an introduction with a healthy CV/resume (Mayweather, Pacquiao, Mosley and Judah) The question is this a fight that interests Cotto? Is this the career defining fight that could have a fairy tale ending to his outstanding career? I would like to hope so, feel this would be an excellent fight to watch and he could really test triple G.

Daniel Jacobs 31 – 1

The miracle man, has has an incredible journey and what he has achieved after over coming a life threatening form of bone cancer. He is credit to the sport and real inspiration. Jacobs last 2 wins have been impressive taking out Sergio Mora and Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin by TKO in less than 2 rounds. Should he win his fight against Andy Lee, his name should be in the mix the fight is inevitable early 2017.

Billy Joe Saunders 23 – 0 + Chris Eubank Jr 22 – 1

Both credible fighters however both do need more top ranked fighters in there cv/resume before tackling triple G.

Chris Eubank Jr has some very impressive performances under him, he packs a punch. However can he box at world level? If he can then great two power punchers going at it. Sounds like the purest of entertainment. Eubank Jr has recently signed with Matchroom, means the fight is more than possible.

Billy Joe Saunders the current WBO middleweight champion is an underrated boxer and I feel on pure boxing ability has the best chance to out box triple G. He makes his fights look easy and effortless. His last performance against Andy Lee was very good, young fighter world champion, looks like he can only get better with experience… But is Triple G a step to soon? BJS is not shy on twitter and interviews…
