The Premier Boxing Champions SHOWTIME Pay-Per-View double header on Saturday night features two brothers David Benavidez and Jose Benavidez Jr. headlining the card against formidable opponents Demetrius Andrade and Jermall Charlo. With a Free fight prelims and countdown show airing on YouTube before the main PPV card.
David Benavidez is a former WBC super middleweight champion and he is one of the most offensive fighters in boxing. He doesn’t have one punch knockout power but he puts together combinations and stops guys with flurries. His main goal is to face Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and to fight for undisputed championship status.
Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade believes he is one of the most avoided fighters in the world. He has chased fights with the Charlo brothers and Canelo Alvarez only for them to ignore him and act like he doesn’t exist. On Saturday night he finally has his big moment to show the boxing world he is the real deal and why the top guys avoided him for so long.
Both Benavidez and Andrade are undefeated so this is one of those fights where everything is on the line.
The co-main event features the older brother of David Benavidez, Jose Benavidez Jr., going all the way up from welterweight to the middleweight division and taking on the undefeated Jermall Charlo.
The SHOWTIME Prelim Countdown show on YouTube will feature two fights. Former world champion Sergey Lipinets takes on Michel Rivera in a 10 round light welterweight contest. Up and coming Vito Mielnicki Jr. will fight Alexis Salazar in a 154-pound bout set for 10 rounds.
